      In the most recent update, Opera seems to automatically go to a specific search engine when you type the first letter of said search engine in the URL bar and press enter. So if I type B and press enter, I go to Bing, for example. As someone who never uses Yahoo! or Bing, this is very annoying, as I have gotten used to typing "Y" and enter to get to YouTube, or "B" and enter to go to BlackBoard. Is there any way to turn this function off?

        Use two-letter shortcuts, which is only reasonable.

          But why should I have Yahoo and Bing of all things in my suggestions at all? This is also a minor issue with Google, as typing "G" and enter no longer goes to Google.com/ncr as my top suggestion has always been, but the regional version of Google instead.
          It's a nuisance, is all I'm saying. I go to these three websites a lot, so I was happy with them being accessible with just one letter.

            You have opera, put them on speed dial, it's even faster then typing a letter.

              They are the shortcut letters defined in your settings to be used for those websites. If you removed those search engines it would free up the letters. I knew of a way to do this but it apparently does not stick after a few restarts of the browsers (even though it has worked for me, so, IDK). Search for a way to remove the built-in search engines and it will free up every letter except G, which is hard coded into the browser as a fall back.

                I couldn't remove search engines from my regular settings page. These search engines are all in a Json file, as described here - http://superuser.com/questions/956087/opera-31-remove-default-search-engines - but I didn't have any success following those tips either.

                I also noticed another error that popped up today, that my backspace now also causes the 'back' function to activate while I'm typing in my url bar. I doubt that that was intended.

                Right now I mostly just want to undo the most recent update ^_^;

                Thanks for the input anyway. I'll see what I can do, but it seems Opera really doesn't like people tempering with their partnerships.

                  Speed dial means you have to click it. How is that not slower than pressing two keys?

                    Shouldn't make that much difference.

                      Yeah... not good enough. My shortcuts are ingrained. I'll rather change browser than accept this change, personally.
