Permanently remove Alert number from tab bar

On the tab bar on the 2 tabs I have always open a number in parentheses appears. After web search it appears that it is the number of alerts from that site - as I don't use that facility I would like to remove it permanently as I find it annoying!

Some websites post their own numbers there. This forum, for example, posts your number of unread Notifications there, I'd imagine webmail sites would indicate unread mail in the same fashion.. If it is something like that the browser won't be able to do a thing about it - it is only displaying what the site told it to display. (Note that Notification for this site refers to that bell icon at the top of the page, not to desktop notifications.)

If I understand @ptjw7 correctly, he is bothered by the number on the tabs, which, depending on the current website, can stand for various unread messages:
While Opera cannot suppress this number, Vivaldi can do so:

ahh now i see it yes doesnt bother me
it was the in parentheses bit that threw me
