      Not much infos...

Can you go to "Details, switch to "hardware id" and post that? That can be looked up on Google and such to find it. Of course, if you know your processor model number.

      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_215A17AA&REV_02
      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_215A17AA
      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&CC_030000
      PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&CC_0300

The particular driver you have covers some old Intel GPUs, but not sure about some slightly newer ones.

Point being, you might be able to go to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers, change the view by product drop-down and find a newer driver for your GPU just to see if it makes a difference. And, with Hardware acceleration on, turning on opera://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist just to test if it works is something to try.

I did the "update test" and all my drivers are ok...

There's also a new version of Opera out, so make sure you're updated to 56.

      Sure. It doesn't help... 😉

Reminder: it is an Opera issue, because all works with Chrome... 😉

      Thanks for your hep, man!

Oh, indeed. Just wondering if Opera is blacklisting your GPU or something and Chrome is not. I assume the blacklist is the same. But, I think it's possible for Opera to have a a different blacklist. Maybe opera://gpu will reveal something.

Thanks for the hardware ids. The point to 1st-gen HD graphics. But, I'm not sure if that's correct. What's your CPU model?

@jfhicter said in Facebook videos issue:

            opera://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist

            Did you try that?

Close Opera and open a command prompt and:

            cd "C:\Program Files\Opera"

Then, try these different things (closing Opera after each test on Facebook):

            launcher.exe --disable-gpu

            launcher.exe --disable-gpu-sandbox

            launcher.exe --ignore-gpu-blacklist --disable-gpu-sandbox

            launcher.exe --override-use-software-gl-for-tests

            launcher.exe --disable-accelerated-video-decode

Before testing though, go back to opera://flags and reset all the flags to default, just for good measure.

Facebook videos in facebook.com work fine though? It is indeed just in messenger? If so, try again with this extension.

You can also hit ctrl + shift + i after trying to play a video and got to the console tab to see if there are any errors. Compare to Chrome to see if there are any differences.

No thanks. However, you can download this zip file that contains 5 bat files and extract. Each one has one of the commands I suggested. You just double-left-click on one of them (while Opera is closed) to test. You can view them with a text editor if you want to see what's in them first.

Well... I stay on Opera because it is fast and well designed -- until 56 is messing with bookmarks bar spaces -- but I'm quite pissed off it mess with such things Chrome does...
Is Opera not supposed to be a Chrome killer?
                      😞

                          2 other things to try.

                          1. Download the Opera installer, launch it, click "options", set "install path" to a folder on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation" and install. Test in that Opera. Do not enable Opera Sync or anything like that. If it works there, it's just something messed up with your normal Opera profile.

You can delete the folder when you're done testing.

                          1. Create another user on Windows (Control Panel\User Accounts\User Accounts\Manage Accounts and click add new user at the bottom), log out of your user account and log into the new account and test Opera. If it works there, there's something wrong with your normal Windows user account that affects Opera.

@leocg Yep, I can, but, it launch Opera with all my settings, bookmarks, etc. and synchronize automatically. So, i did a guest account to see, and the issue is still there... Plus, the issue is in Vivaldi too... It works in Chrome and Brave.

If you want, try it again. After you change the install path to a folder on you desktop, make sure it says "standalone installation" for "install for". When finished installing, it'll automatically launch that Opera with its own settings where Opera Sync isn't enabled by default or anything. Something must not have been right with the installation settings. It probably won't help though if it does it in Vivaldi too, but give it a shot.

Another thing to try. Goto https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/ and look at the "Latest Downloads" section on the right side. Click the link for "Windows x64 (Offline)" under "Opera Developer" and install that. You can do a standalone installation or regular, doesn't matter. The regular installation wont' mess with your regular Opera and won't use its settings. Do you have 64-bit Windows 7 or 32-bit though? If 32-bit, you need to download the non-64-bit one. If you are using 32-bit Windows, maybe it's an issue with 32-bit support for videos in messenger with your GPU.

That's just to see if the issue is already fixed in an upcoming version of Opera. If it's fixed there, it might be eventually fixed in Vivaldi too.

There's a similar download option at https://vivaldi.com/blog/snapshots/ for Vivaldi. See the "snapshot" link in the panel on the right of the page. This snapshot will use your regular Vivaldi settings, but won't install in a separate place.

Finally, go to http://chromium.woolyss.com/download/en/ and download and install Chromium (What Opera, Vivaldi, Chrome and such are based on) to see if has the issue too. If so and things only work right in Chrome, Chrome might be allowing some to work with your GPU. Or, it's something with the fact that Chrome uses ffmpeg to its fullest (for proprietary codecs) while other Chromium browsers do not.

Do install https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/wiki/opera/extensions/mask_as_chrome though to see if it helps. If so, it's just a Facebook browser-detection issue.

When you're done testing, you can go into programs and features in the Windows control panel and uninstall Vivaldi, Opera Developer and Chromium if you want.

One other thing to do would be to post the contents of the details of the player (when you click on it to expand it, after trying to play the video) in opera://media-internals so we can see what type video file its trying to play.
