Why did you dumb down Opera to something I no longer have a reason to use?

I'm a power user and was a loyal Opera fan almost since the beginning, I even stuck with you when you completely stopped developing the old browser and went Chrome, but honestly I just feel like this is is getting worse and worse.
Just got the latest update, apparently you removed the secret power user menu. Thanks. Now I can no longer remove the google bar from the start page.
After finally learning where things are in the settings you now reorganized it into the absolute worst settings page I have ever seen on a product. Do you think dividing things into Basic and Advanced and having an endless list of items is how people think? It takes me five minutes just to find something I've been changing around for years.
I also noticed you added various types of snooping on users, the browser sending back the pages we visited to your central servers, and this is enabled by default, one part of it, if I'm not wrong turn off only in the power user menu? So now you can't turn it off and we have to send you the pages we visit?
Even when I sign up for the forums I need a 12 letter password and I must consent to receiving e-mails from you?
I just don't get it. Who is this for? Who is your target audience, you've completely abandoned us power users, are you still living in the dream that you'll go mainstream?
What are you thinking?
As for me, I'm looking for a new browser to call home after more than a decade. -

In Advanced>Privacy & security in v55.0 there is "Help improve Opera services by sending data about trending websites". Is this the option you're talking about?

Interesting that almost every time I see someone saying that, I read a post that contradict it.

Why not? The option is in the same place as before. Or you could use the search.

It's basically the original Chromium page style, with some modifications. Chrome also uses it and it's the most used browser, so I guess people likes it.
And most probably the change of the settings page was a technical decision to avoid problems on intakes every time Chromium changed something on it.

The web has changed, computers has changed, technology has changed. They are no longer something just for some people like 'geeks' or 'nerds' or 'power users' like you say, they are for everyone, they are everywhere, they are part of everyone's life.
Opera just evolved to follow those changes.

After knowing Opera for many years occasionally using it ....
I'am here. WHY?Palemoon made hard decisions time ago .. I followed it ... fan or not it was efficient for me to use ... lot of personalizations.
Last two update they moved in "this" direction ... The same direction I see now Opera is embracing. - I left for good PaleMoon, looking for an efficient alternative.
My last months? I'm busily learning how to use Opera for my needs. One of the few Alternative Browser, and Yes I use occasionally some others.
If I want a Chrome I use Chrome (no) If I want a FireFox I use a FireFox (no)
Why in the heck Alternative Browsing should be mimicking Main-Stream browsing?
What future they expect following that paths?Some users outside here, need different answers, otherwise they will not be here inside,
isn't that true?OR I DID GOT WRONG SOMETHING ?

I have almost eliminated everything Chrome/Google off my systems because they and too many sites consider our privacy has no value, and feel it's their right to STALK us everywhere, all the time.
I am most interested in the Stalking part. How did you find Opera is sending back our Internet use data And, even if we could disable it, doesn't mean they won't follow Google, Facebook, Apple, ... and so on by ignoring the disable request anyway. The giants have jaded users trust in anything anywhere.[[[rant begins]]]
I agree with your comment on the sign up. I just had to agree to Opera's "optional" use of my personal data, as well as agree to the "optional" emails sent by Opera and any minions they elect to hand off my address to. Of course it took a few reads to realize that optional meant, 'Agree of get lost'.I do see you received a reply suggestion for you get yourself a Philadelphia lawyer to read the Opera user agreements on privacy and use of Opera. It, like the rest, boils down to a simple legal extortion of 'Give up your privacy or stop using our browser - period.' It's the Internet - anything goes. We have been assimilated - resistance was futile.
I feel that the part of the response that blames it on "The web has changed, computers has changed, technology has changed." is caving in to the demands of Google and it's takeover of the Internet and control of Internet users.
I wish my expertise was with browsers. I suck with browsers. But what I do see, is that they, and web sites are all kowtowing to Google and as one SE points out, 75% of web sites are infected with Google Stalkers. Opera, being of the inbred Googie Chrome is doing a great job, IMHO, in providing another choice of browser.,, even if it's father is also it's uncle
How I wish for the days of Netscape Navigator, as it was too hard for peeps to stalk us, was more secure and worked for power users and newbies. But then again, web sites and Archie, Gopher and Altavista were honest... then corporations took over.

@internaut : I'm torn by your Rant finding that I agree and disagree with different parts. I was an early adopter of Netscape (3.0 Gold) and rode with them until version 9. In 2000 I downloaded Opera 4 and continued with that until the exodus of several development engineers a few years back. That made me nervous and I bailed. I've no use for Vivaldi. I see it as a throwback to the 90's suite and I do not want my mail integrated but rather kept separate from my browser. Besides, I find it a bit clunky and not nearly as elegant as Opera's GUI. What to do? What to do?
