Opera has been completely unusable for about a week on my Win 10 64bit machine.
After launch, it just crashes with the first click, so no menus available, nothing I can do. I deinstalled and reinstalled version 54.0.2952.46, deleted my local profile. There's no extension whatsoever, just the plain downloaded browser. No change though: it just continues crashing just after launch.
Is there anybody out there with the same experience? Sometimes it helps knowing that you're not alone ๐Ÿ™‚
Even better, though, if somebody has a solution ๐Ÿ™‚
      Thanks
      Pierre

I'm experiencing the same for several days now. I do have few extensions, but I've been using them for ages and they never caused problems. I also reinstalled it clean and it just keeps on crashing. It's so stupid.

It basically started happening since some Opera update that caused the Synchronization icon to stay visible for a very long time in top right corner after you start Opera. It wasn't crashing when I couldn't see that icon before. If Sync icon is visible and I try to use Opera too quickly it'll either lock up for few seconds and then crash or it just straight lockups and restarts and then displays a crash popup. I have no idea where to look up what was the cause of the crash. Nothing in Windows Event Viewer and I have no clue if Opera has anything inside of it...

Here is my thread where I didn't get any response...

Did you try to reset Sync data?

Come on, fix this stupid nonsense. I never had go damn browser crashing on me on every freaking 3rd start. This is absurd. It wasn't doing this last month, so figure out what the hell you changed in it to keep on doing this crap. It's annoying as hell.

How to reproduce it? I haven't been seeing any crashes in Opera.

@leocg I don't know. It just keeps happening the exact same way. Start Opera, click on something instantly, be it any extension in toolbar or a bookmark and it either locks up and crashes or just crashes and restarts straight away with an error message popup inside Opera that crash happened and that's it. Considering it doesn't log into Event Viewer I have no clue how to see what's causing this.

@rejzor Any difference if you start Opera with --disable-gpu? Does it work with sync disabled?

The fact is, this wasn't happening few versions ago. At all. So, something had to be changed by Opera for this to be happening.

@rejzor It's not happening here, so it may not be a general Opera issue.

Two users from probably different parts of the world have exact same random symptoms. Something is certainly going on.

                            Does Opera,

                            • installed portable as "Stand-alone installation (USB)",
                            • into a new directory you have full read and write permissions for,
                            • with the first program start (= without changing any setting),

                            also crash?

New version mentions some crash fix. Lets see if this was it. It was related to built-in Adblocker apparently.

Not a single crash after the last fix...
