Two Tabs Open Instead of One - Why?

Did I do something accidentally to cause this strange problem?
When launching Opera two tabs open. My selected homepage
(Google) which is normal. The second tab is a Google search
for the word "Opera."This "two tab" thing started a couple of days ago. I installed
Opera four weeks ago.Recently, I added a command switch to suppress never ending
security certificate warning boxes. I think it's working.Opera --ignore-certificate-errors
Here is the FAQ about adding command switches to Opera:
https://forums.opera.com/topic/5344/faq-how-do-i-add-a-command-line-switch-to-opera
This seems impossible, but could that unwanted second tab
appear because I added a command switch?I found the switch by reading this thread at Super User:

It should be:
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --ignore-certificate-errors
not
"C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" Opera --ignore-certificate-errors
