Bookmark transfer - what can I expect?

Hello Opera users,
I just switched from an old XP-system to a W10 box. I saved all my (many) bookmarks by exporting them, both as a .adr file and as HTML, on an external disk. Now when I try to import them on the new system, it does not recognize the HTML file. Whai I can do with the .adr file I have no idea. But I can see the files in the Windows explorer, and can even open the HTML file in Opera. But all what I then see is a long list of my bookmarks. I expected that the bookmarks show up in Opera's bookmark list as they did before. Do I expect too much, or where is the problem?Many thanks for your help,
Hans -

The HTML file can be imported on other Browsers?
Another option would be, importing the whole Opera 12.xx profile - at least what can be imported - to Opera Blink using a switch.

Yes I can import the HTML file into Firefox. Unfortunately it is a long scrollable list, and sorting does not work.
No one has an idea why Opera doesn't see the HTML file?Regards, Hans

@hans4999 interesting.
i imported my html bookmarks file without problems into Vivaldi. All bookmark folders i have in Opera were identical in Vivaldi.
You think you know, but you have no idea.
