Prevent Pinned Tab from Opening on Startup

Recently I pinned a tab by mistake, now it opens every time I start Opera. I'm a Techy and I've tried everything I can think of, searched the web relentlessly but I can find no way to prevent this tab from opening on startup. You'd think this would have been a basic function coded into the app. Has anyone found a way to prevent a pinned tab from opening on startup ? Thanks

I've already done that but to no avail. I've also tried unpinning then just closing Opera without closing the tab, both ways no joy

@leocg said in Prevent Pinned Tab from Opening on Startup:
@zalex108 That option will not prevent a infected Opera shortcut.
Well, it will warn the user...
just in case it has been allowed by user, or allowed by hackers in the preferences, this is what happens.Test:

I'm 99.999% certain it is not an infected shortcut. Since my last post I have had another duplicate pinned tab get saved and now it always starts with opera so I have to unpin and close two duplicate windows now after starting opera and I never start opera from a url shortcut, always from the application shortcut. This is very frustrating. I've tried backing up my bookmarks, uninstalling opera reinstalling and restoring the bookmarks but still no joy, those duplicate pinned tabs keep coming back. I actually start opera from a specific set of pages, I even modified that startup option to contain NO pages, none, zilch, notta then exited, restarted and those pesky pinned tabs still opened up. I've tried open where I left off after closing the pinned tabs, no joy. Hard to believe something this simple cannot be fixed.

Try renaming "Current session" file.
Look at Opera Back up on the signature if you need more info about that.

Thanks for all the advice and help, I finally figured it out, turned out to be an extension I had installed via the chrome webstore "Real Pinned Tabs" which remembers your pinned tabs and reopens them pinned. I had installed it after not being able to get Opera to restart with the pinned tabs I wanted. So, when I repinned the existing tabs it added a second set. Seems I was looking to deep instead of applying the Occam's razor principle
