Unfortunately the plugin for Firefox will not work in Opera - but at least you'd know if Flash is still supporting XP or you need to find an older version.

I go through the Adobe Flash Player installation, and once it's almost finished installing it says "installation failed" and has me click finish.

Your thread's title says you can't download it,
My plugins page lists three relevant items: a Shockwave Flash (v.23), Adobe Reader, and "Shockwave for Director"; all three active.
...Couldn't find any updating settings here now not enabling the advanced settings (maybe they're there, I didn't check), I didn't tinker any further - it's fine here with me (games play, videos.. ahem.. appear). I mean it could be relevant to some automatic update.

I can't install Adobe Flash Player, excuse me for using a similar word.

On my Firefox plugin page, I only have the Adobe Reader and "Shockwave for Director" I don't have the "Shockwave Flash" plugin.

I wasn't trying to use the plugin for Firefox in Opera. I downloaded Firefox to see if I got the same problem as I was with the Opera browser.

And I don't have the Flash plugin on either browser anyway.

Obviously the problem is that I don't have the flash plugin on any browser I use, so I'm needing to know how to obtain the flash plugin.

Let's get a thread of its own, or move ourselves to that one of mine, but the thing is my Opera 36 installation has not ever had any trouble at all with any plug-in Flash included. Moreover, it got me an impression it somehow connects with - all that.
I mean Opera never asking for anything, just working, then Firefox time to time - updating stuff -- etc. Working.
              Even Java.
              Maybe I'm blessed 👼

That's great, but telling me yours has never had problems, doesn't exactly help me now does it?

First you need to make sure you have some basic Adobe installation on your system itself. It might be governing certain stuff considering plugins. Make sure it is valid and up-to-date. And compatible!

Then you need to have the latest COMPATIBLE browsers with your system respectively: Opera 36 and Firefox 52.
Besides, is your system itself "up-to-date"? I mean it is XP, however, there were service packs, security updates; drivers, too...
Make sure your anti-malware software doesn't block anything. Which is it?
Do you have the administrative privileges on your system? Most important stuff properly installed? System not messed up, drivers in place? Browsers installed regularly all right?
If you have any kind of "system performance" or "system efficiency" software, it can mess things up without consulting you, by the way.

Being pedantic (and off-topic), it's Firefox 52 ESR that you should have now on Windows XP, not Firefox 52, which is out of date.

OP, have you tried installing Flash with the standalone installer, rather than using the online routine?
You can get the latest PPAPI plugin here.
Try running that and see if it installs if you haven't already.
                    🙂

So you are running Flash installer e the installation is failing? If so then it's not an Opera problem.

Download it from here and install it in your computer. Remember that you will need to install different versions of Flash for Opera and for Firefox.

As I said, I would really recommend using the standalone installer, rather than using the normal Adobe website option, if you've been having problems.
                        🙂
