Are both in theater mode?
Neither of them are in theater mode.

The one on the left seems to be, that's why I asked.

No, I'm 100% sure neither are in theater mode...

This is how it looks here:
And on developer 46:
What's your OS? I'm on Windows 10.

I cannot replicate, but why would enabling Cinema mode not achieve what you want? The value appears to be saved for the current session only, but entering the below from console will make it permanent, although it may not be what you are looking for if you do not wish to use Cinema mode for some reason.
document.cookie="wide=1; expires=Tue, 19 Jan 2038 04:14:07 UTC; domain=.youtube.com";

I know it may sound trivial but it is annoying having to press the cinema mode every time. -

I have the same problem. I think it's a problem because of the bookmarks bar.
look at the screenshots
without the bookmarks bar:
<blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="bpcf3xI">View post on imgur.com</blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>with the bookmarks bar :

@hughmungus I can imagine that it would be annoying then. What is the reason for you to browse YouTube from a private window though if I may ask?

Same here. This all started when they add a samll "+" icon to the bookmark bar. Hope they fix it soon.

I have the same problem. I imagine it also has something to do with the resolution of your screen (for me it happens on a laptop screen which I think is 1366 x 768).
I really hope they don't ignore this. It's very annoying.

I am still having this issue. The difference is this: when I login to youtube the playing window is small. When I log out from youtube the playing window is larger. Very strange. All other browsers are having large playing window, no matter if you are logged in or out. Please help. Thanks. I have the latest opera installed. Version: 55.0.2994.44 - Restart Opera to update to version 55.0.2994.56

This topic is too old and about an old Opera version.
