RE: Opera 12.18 Buttons

I use the newest form of Opera for most everything, but I still use 12.18 for editing. I have a new computer, so I've reinstalled both versions of Opera. The one problem for me is I love to use 12.18's custom buttons. Is there a way to copy them from one computer to the new computer? Or is there anywhere out there where I can find the 12.18's custom button?

I made the mistake of searching for Opera 12 buttons in the Opera 40something. I found a page with all the buttons on it at http://homepage.hispeed.ch/ttt-o/button/h-bu-mail-adv.html. It still would be nice to know if there was a way to copy the buttons from one computer to another though..

Do you recall the name of the folder? It is too bad that the Opera Wiki that once existed for 12.8 is gone. It was really helpful. There are still web pages that don't work with the most recent opera, but work perfectly with 12.8. I use both, and I'm sad that Opera has tried to totally wipe the previous version of Opera off the face of the Internet.

I don't think there's any actual files involved for custom buttons.
Isn't all the information for them stored in the standard_toolbar (1).ini file?
It should be in the Profile\Toolbar folder.
Try just copying that across to the other installation.
Back up the original first of course, in case anything goes wrong!

Of course there is a file. In your profile (see Help > About Opera) there will be a folder named Toolbar with a file generally named standard_toolbar.ini, though you can change the name to make it something more memorable if you like. (Just make sure it still ends in .ini if you do change it.) Copy this file to the folder of the same name on your new setup. Then go to Preferences > Advanced > Toolbars and choose the new setup in the list.

Many thanks to those who commented. I will try what you suggest. Presto is running great on my new computer. Although I mainly use the never version, I still find 12.18 an amazing and powerful browser. I'm sad that it has been ignored and neglected, but such is life.

blackbird71 last edited byI think Olde Opera will always have a place on my system (at least until it becomes totally incompatible with Internet protocols), partly because of the usefulness of the custom buttons I've accumulated within it. I find both the browser and the buttons highly useful for quickly analyzing page issues related to redirects, I-frames, javascriptings, pop-up blocking, sending of referrer info, content blocking, and in-page images - all of which I have Olde Opera toolbar buttons for toggling those functions on or off. Having the buttons on the toolbar turns the browser into a quick and easy analytic tool unlike any browser I've seen since.

I think the OP thought there was perhaps a separate file stored somewhere for each custom button.
