Earlier today, I logged into Barclays banking. All was well.

Shortly afterwards, I noticed my Opera icon was red, it wanted me to re-start to update to the latest version. So I did.

Now I can't access Barclays... it's telling my my browser is not supported or is too old...

This has now happened on every instance of Opera I run (I have several computers, all running Opera), except for my Linux machine, which I'm now purposely not updating.

I can get a screen grab if you like.

The reason I'm reporting this as an Opera bug is because it worked fine with the previous version, but not with the NEW version...

Info that might be useful. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1.

      From Opera's about page:

      Version information
Version: 43.0.2442.1144 (PGO) - Opera is up to date
      Update stream: Stable
      System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)

      Browser identification
      Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.87 Safari/537.36 OPR/43.0.2442.1144

It's up to Barclays to support Opera or not. All that Opera can do is to talk to them about it and/or create a workaround to bypass that blocking.

As a customer, you will always have more influence in convincing your bank to support a browser.

It's not a bug, it's the site doing browser sniffing.

Barclays stopped accepting Opera on my wife's computer today, but still accepts it on mine. We're both using Windows 10 and the latest version of Opera. All I get is a warning that "the version of Opera that you're using may not offer you the best Online Banking experience". In fact it gives me a better experience than Chrome or Edge. For example on Chrome I get an error message if I try to look at my Barclays transactions. On Edge I can't cut and paste things into a spreadsheet. There are strange errors with Barclays and it seems to be getting worse.

Btw., that's crazy-talk (probably nothing to do w/Barclays); because, if you're using the same Windows (10) version and the -same- latest version of Opera - it can only mean that you've, actually, gotten different Operas installed... Whichever Chromium installer your setup (file) had come from, heh. 😕

The insane number of versions and variations of the browser(s) being offered for download, from the original web site, isn't cool (any moar). One FTP (mirror, source, online /offline) installer being different from another - just, why.

Are you, maybe, bothered to look up the user-agent strings?.. They're on the opera://about/ pages (Like the OP had posted - I'm just being curious).

              Edit:

^^ Didn't mean to spam, or create confusion, the above post would be the solution, btw.

Some extensions modifies the User-Agent, it's another option to be checked after test with a private window and / or a clean profile.
