I'm pretty sure I post at least on question after I joined the Opera community. But I didn't write down which subtitle I posted in. So 1 Isn't there a way to find my posts by name? and 2 If I have an idea what the question was but don't remember exactly the words I used I can't seem to find them.

One question was about Opera back around 2006 or before. I had a user name and posted in what might have been blogs but it seems that Opera may have tossed all of those old account because I can't find them and wouldn't know how to search for them in this new form.

The other question has to do with these annoying pop-up adds on my Android phone which is using Opera Mini. How do I turn those annoying news flashes off?

If this is not the best place for these questions will someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

You can find your posts in your profile page.

Note: If the link doesn't work, add your user-name at the end of it.

Alternatively ... you see the outline of a person at the top of the every page? That's your avatar (generic, since you haven't set one), if you hover it (or tap it on a touchscreen) you get a menu that includes a link to your profile.

              MyOpera?

There's this Web Archive. But for that you had better have a URL.
Well, MyOpera's search does seem to work somehow there, but one will only be able to find stuff if it's been archived/preserved.

During that time I did all of my " blogging " and communicating with my Opera community on a desktop computer running windows 98. I still have that computer and if I recall there were a few pages that I saved by downloading them so at least I'll have a few copies of what were ( IMHO ) excellent prose written by a my Opera pals. Perhaps I'll have a way of finding them again.

Although my current Opera name is similar to my name back then it's a real disappointment that any company can and does purge those accounts. With "the cloud" storage these days it doesn't seem to me that those accounts needed to be discarded. Just my two cents.

They warned every user by e-mail about 'My Opera' being closed and ,if I remember correctly, also provided a way to download some data.

I guess they couldn't keep those accounts after the service have been ended, due to legal reasons.

Even if they could, it would cost them resources.

Anyway, I think it's not a discussion for Forum Feedback.

                    ...

I recall that in some cases, users set up their MyOpera accounts using eMail addresses that later expired or were abandoned, so those users never received the closure-notification eMails. On the other hand, those users probably weren't very active in the first place or they would have seen all the Opera messages and rampant, emotional forum postings discussing the MyOpera closure prior to it happening. I do recall that exit/migration paths were discussed and suggested ahead of time for those having blogs, photos, and such that they wanted to preserve.

True, but it makes me think how important that data was for those users.

I mean, if I had important personal material stored with someone, I would make sure that they have ways to contact me if needed.

If you were on the blogs and forums, it wasn't that hard to keep your email address up-to-date; I know I changed mine a couple of times there.
