@andreasbovens
really now into stable veraion??? There're lot of bugs and glitches and you wanna present opera this way? Congrat!Which bugs and glitches are you seeing?
See my posts @andreasbovens on opera forum https://forums.opera.com/topic/16653/ui-overhaul-in-opera-37-1
Looks like devs don't read what users write and occur

Can't test it yet.
-Is the problem where tapping sync causes the browser to minimize fixed?
-Is the problem with the unresponsive folder tiles (does not respond to tapping) fixed?
-Can I sync my other speed dials?
-Tab selector problems (hanging) are fixed?
@andreasbovens If you 'd be so kind to provide a changelog and a version number like with opera desktop it would be so helpful.

Wow that it is indeed, from what I see from beta. Who have thought about that insane regression and has put it to stable, it blows my mind. I hope it's only a bug, it can't be something else, it can't be!!!

Clearly devs don't read these posts and bugs tickets at all or the don't mind what they release... I've reported all these bugs and glitches and you can see result...

Are the new features of opera/android all allready in opera beta /android realized?

Why change things that were good?
-
The new bottom bar reduces space for visibility of the pages and if I enable the full screen option then I have to make scroll for make the bar visible for use it. Why not have an option for the user to choose whether to use the bottom bar or have those buttons in the menu as before?
-
When I open a new tab, I would like the Speed Dial will be displayed as before.
-
Before, we can tap on the arrow of a search suggestion for avoid to launch the searching and only put the text on the search box. Why have you removed that?
I think this new version has no new interesting features and instead is full of drawbacks in usability.
This is the first time that I'm thinking about switching to another browser.

If I update to the soon-to-be-released new Opera for Android, and don't like it, can I reinstall the previous version over the newly installed newest version?
Thinking ahead.

Thinking ahead. No, but you can install it from an external source outside Google's store (apk file). Or you can already see what to expect by trying out the latest beta.

Thinking ahead.Old versions of opera are easy to find. Just delete the new one, install the one you like, then go into google play and turn off auto update.
For me, I gave after version 36 when they did the new ui and then took away the option to use the old tab switcher. But as with most things, if you want the perfect browser for you, you would have to make it yourself

Bummer, looks like I will be sticking with the version I've been using for the past few months...this is truly a disappointment.

@bbildman: @xirit32 is correct.
you can create a local apk file from your current version with apkextractor, or pull an older version from apkmirror or opera's own repository https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/
jumping back and forth between versions i have never lost any data, bookmarks etc; do regular backups anyway.

Well I tried out the latest beta version of Opera .
Congratulations to the opera developer team for turning a what was a browser into a newsreader. This version is absolutely terrible.
The opening window for Opera should be the speed dial page or a bookmark page not the current news.
Let us hope and pray Opera developers do not turn the computer version into what we have here.

You can go to settings, then news, home page and change that. Of course that is minor, the browser has many other problems that need to be addressed.

Hi, just updated in my Samsung tablet. Nice but
- Where's back and forward buttons? Or don't I see them. Or have I missed something.
- Too many taps to use my bookmarks.
- Would like to have very easy way to clear history.
My phone wont't see this update ...

I agree with most of this. Where are the back and forward buttons? The only way I can go back is with the Android UI, and only one page at a time. A long press used to bring up a short history, please reinstate this.
And where are the synced tabs? I think I came across them a few days ago, but I can't find them now.

Thanks for the reply, I eventually refound the synced tabs, 3 dots, tab manager, synced tabs. Buried a lot deeper than previously. I'd prefer to see them maybe on the personal page , with bookmarks etc.
I'm using a tablet in landscape mode, no sign of navigation buttons.
