After upgrade to Opera 39.0.2256.48 Stable for Windows backspace button does not work, this is actually a big problem for me.
Now i have customized another button to do the same job.
Please advice, no problem with another browser!
      Windows 10 Pro x 64
Add-ons disabled, but without any difference.

Did Opera just parrot this? An extension for Backspace? That would be as crazy as needing an extension for, I don't know, something like a Home button. That would never happen.

Excuse my poor English, this definitely must be a bug, which shut be fixed again with update, otherwise i think and i am sure most of users think this engineer which did it must be fired.
I have fixed this without extensions:
Settings/Browser/Opera's management/Management with extended keyboard commands/Settins for these commands - and for back select "Backspace".
Do not click on the "arav-saha" link - "it is defenetely not helpful".

Backspace was disabled in Chromium. You can try to re-added it in Settings > Browser > Configure Shortcuts.

leo ... "Backspace was disabled in Chromium". Out of curiosity, why did Opera not disable this change?

There are many unhappy campers because of this.

Yes it can be resolved in Settings, but why annoy so many users?

Basic users don't even know about these forums or settings. They just want a browser that goes back a page when they press the Backspace key.

If it doesn't, they will migrate somewhere else.

Because it negates the point of using a shared renderer if you have to start forking it for ever little thing.

And theres even more people that have hated the features since the 90's.

Basic users don't even know about these forums or settings.

Which is why so many people hated it. They didn't know how to change it. Google it. Every major browser name and backspace and you see tons of people trying to figure out how to turn it off. You know how so just turn it back on.

Because it wouldn't make sense? If they would be changing Chromium all the time, there would be no meaning in using it.

Well, the key was disabled because the previous behaviour was annoying many users. So i guess the other side won this time.

Average users most probably don't even use the keyboard to navigate.
