I just installed Opera 37. I want to change the position of extension buttons on the toolbar, but have yet to find out how. I will be very disappointed if I cannot do this. Thanks in advance.

It seems that there are extensions tbat allow you to do that.

The work-around I came up with was to uninstall and then reinstall extensions to get the buttons in the order I want them in.

It looks like Shuffle Extension Toolbar allows users to arrange extension toolbar buttons independent of the order in which they are installed. However, it is not particularly user friendly.

I'm sure that most users could figure out how to accomplish this by installing an extension, but that isn't the point. Why would the developers choose not to include such a basic functionality built into the browser?

... Why would the developers choose not to include such a basic functionality built into the browser?

Because no two users nor developers necessarily see eye to eye on many details of what constitutes "basic functionality"? There are many, many things that developers "could" choose to do or include in a browser, but they instead elect not to do them because of other things they on which they're focused (including development costs) or because such things don't really fit the target market they're aiming at. The key point is that they've chosen not to include this 'feature', at least thus far - in part because there are extensions to already do the job for those who really want it done.

Being it something basic or not is a matter of personal opinion. For me the basic functionality of a browser is to display web pages and allow the users to interact with them; Everything else is a plus.

BTW, i remember have read that they are working on implement it but there is no ETA on when or ven if it will be available.
