@Blumy42 Try enabling "Install Chrome Extensions" in Opera GX settings under the Extensions menu. Also, make sure both Opera GX and your Chrome extensions are up to date.
and an additional piece of information, I did try to reinstall my GPU drivers (albeit the reason was unrelated to this) and this did not help. I still need to full screen a video player other than youtube first so that youtube one will start working.
