  What the heck is it?

  Yes, I'm with a USB modem, and the speeds are not too high, but this one I can't clearly recall happening:
  I run a radiostream in my player, the bandwidth is more than enough, I open a browser (it was Firefox, but it doesn't seem to matter much) - pages won't load; I tried the other two browsers - either "Can't connect" or "Time out".
  The modem shows low speeds - I guess the bandwidth somehow gets busy/jammed. Because you know what? One page loaded o'k (a Mozilla one in my Olde Opera), and downloading a Firefox upgrade (~40MB), the speeds were high and healthy - still the stream running.
  Well, now I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting (without a reboot), let's see what happens now... I closed the player, loading speeds are not low - pages load...

  What was (is) that?
  What could be the nature of the jam? Applications get kinda "suspended" of sorts, direct loading (files) seemed o'k...

  In that case, sub means under or less than - as in less than 1 Mbps speed. This was in reference to how slow uploading can sometimes be with 3G USB modems for some situations.

  ... what I also can't understand is why didn't they keep it all and do what Vivaldi has done? I mean they say these were rarely used features and were the cause of a lot of slowdowns in Presto, but yet Vivaldi has perfected it?

  Opera was redesigned with a focus on appealing to new users who wanted a less complex browser, in order to try to grow market share and reduce costs. It was felt that the users who demanded deep settings and integrated feature capabilities were too small a market segment to devote significant resources toward for the development/maintenance costs involved. Vivaldi is taking a different path, focusing directly upon the users who want the deep settings and integrated features. Only time will tell which is the wiser choice of focus... perhaps both will be, each in its own particular arena.

  -P.S. I was recommending these two browsers to be used in conjunction of Opera so you are able to view certain content that your work environment calls for. I also want to note that they both have a portable version available for use.

  It's a bit tricky theorizing what malware can or can't do - as soon as one nails down a limitation, along comes a creative exploit that breaks through that limitation.

  That's right, I had that in mind.

  This is why 'layered' security is so important - multiple security techniques like using a decent antivirus, keeping a system full patched from a security standpoint, using limited user accounts (to limit the penetration depth of malware), a good firewall that applies outgoing filtering, and consistency in applying 'safe hex' (extreme care in what is downloaded, not clicking on pop-ups or opening eMailed links, care in what sites are visited, etc). The more layers present, the harder for new malware to find or exploit an opening.

  Maybe Vivaldi will be a pay browser ;p They're the original Opera people. Though that browser also feels an awful lot like Chrome, even if it isn't based off of it.

  Uhmm... but Vivaldi IS based 'off of' Chrome, in that it uses the chromium rendering engine.

  Hi,has your problem been solved? I also encountered DNS Keeper ads several days ago and finally removed those ads by changing my DNS settings. I followed the guide in this post (http://guides.uufix.com/how-to-uninstallremove-dns-keeper-from-your-pc-pop-up-ads-removal/) to change my DNS to automatic and it did the trick. I was not sure about those anti-malware programs recommended so I didn't download them.
  DNS Keeper may have changed your default DNS settings. You can follow the steps below to repair it by yourself. (Take Windows 7 for example)

  Click Start button, go to Control Panel and click the View network status and tasks link under Network and Internet category. (Note: The control panel screen is under View by: Category)

  Then click on Local Area Connection.

  In the pop-up Local Area Connection 2 Status window, you click on Properties button.

  Click on Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) then click Properties button.

  Select the Obtain DNS server address automatically option and click on OK button.

  I'm a hobbyist and not on the dev team for Opera (nor even remotely related) but it appears as if you want some user replies. If you're interested, still, and you're looking from a reply from someone who was tangentially related to the software business (my degree is in applied mathematics and my business is now sold but was both vehicular and traffic modeling) then I'd be willing to spare a few minutes for your project.

  I just implemented simple auto-sessions in version 2.9
  it was requested from many users
  if you enable it in settings, you can access list of tabs that were active when browser was closed in previous session
  it starts when you enable it ofc, so you will have it next time when browser starts

  As @sgunhouse stated: '...anything could have happened between then and now.' Unless somebody knows the poster personally, if he voluntarily pulls back from posting for reasons unstated, then any number of explanations might exist regarding the 'why' and any number of other things may have occurred in his life subsequently. It's just the way things are in the blogosphere. Others are of course free to speculate about what happened and why, but it all remains speculation.

  When I install a new Linux distro, I use Firefox. I use it to go download Opera. That is all.

  The latest Chrome update Version 45.0.2454.93 m as fixed this problem. Haven't checked the latest Opera & don't intend to ! Spent enough time trying to find a solution. Two browsers now work..Chrome's latest and IE V11.

  I greatly prefer an engine like DuckDuckGo or StartPage over Google because of Google's practice of stuffing so many paid-preferred results at the start of their listings - sometimes nearly the entire first page being thus consumed. IMO, over the years, Google has become virtually useless for getting rapid and meaningful results because of such commercialization nonsense. Another key trick is to be as creative as possible in trying multiple search terms in different combinations, whatever engine is being used.

  I don't think that the virus is resident on my computer. It only appears when I visit one particular site.

  If it's truly a 'virus', it has to exist somewhere on your computer, by definition. Perhaps your terminology is inaccurate. If it's just a pop-up or screen takeover occurring only at one particular website, it would necessarily be the result of malicious code embedded on that website or within an ad or something similar called up from a 3rd party server by that site's code. A favorite trick is to use malicious JavaScript (perhaps combined with an identifying cookie on the user's system) to paint the screen full of some takeover message that leaves a user baffled about how to remove it and regain access to his system. Alt+F4 is the usual, safe method of killing the current window taking over the screen to reveal the normal screen beneath it, but if it's a repetitively refreshed JavaScript scripting that restores the takeover almost immediately, you may have to instead kill the browser via Ctrl+Alt+Del using the Task Manager to kill the browser processes. Obviously, if the problem is related to a particular site, it ought to be a site for the user to avoid in the future.
