@s390g2 Thanks for the response. I have already activated the EasyPrivacy filter list but didn't really know what it was until now. I'm not sure I believe this filter list removes all trackers as it claims but then again we've no real way of proving that with extensions either. The plus for Disconnect is that I can toggle content blockers on and off (some are vital for page functionality). Opera's EasyPrivacy is just a simple on or off.

I do understand permissions are necessary for extensions to be able to function. It makes sense a tracker blocker would need to access my browsing data. It's unfortunate that extensions are extremely vague as to what these permissions are doing for a specific extension. I assume Disconnect is just monitoring browsing data to search for trackers. No way of really knowing though.

There no Opera blogs any more, except of course the company-related blogs. Years ago the My Opera community hosted blogs, but they decided to concentrate on the browser. (Which is when Opera's former CEO opened vivaldi.net to sort of replace the old My Opera community.)

Is Opera set as your default browser? Depending on where or how the adware/malware was installed, it may only infect the default browser, whichever that is. If the adware/malware only affects Opera regardless of whether it's the default browser, the infection may be localized to Opera as an unsought extension or search engine within Opera. It could also arise from an infected session or tab if you have Opera set to resume from earlier sessions and tabs.

Try browsing from within Opera's Private window to see if the infection appears. Check your extensions within Opera and remove anything you don't recognize. Also check for unknown/strange search engines and try deleting them. Examine any Opera shortcut's Properties panel for an appended URL that might be directing the browser to a malicious site. Clear Opera's 'browsing data' via: Menu - History - Clear browsing data. Try deleting Cookies: Menu - Settings - Privacy & Security - Cookies - All cookies and site data... - Delete all - Done.

MacBook scams actually have been around longer than iPhone scams... but the product these scams offer "for free" are limited only by the imagination of the scammer. The scammer's only requirement is that the item be popular, since they don't have any intentions of giving away an actual item... they just want a click/user response to their scam message.

Whether it's arriving by phishing eMail, smart-phone popups, rotating ad-servers on legitimate webpages, or whatever, it's still a scam. Part of the scam is simply to get users to visit or click on something to raise its rankings and further spread the scam.

Yes, I guess so.
I have several Yahoo e-mail accounts, one of which is through Sky, who use Yahoo for their e-mail.
Never had any trouble reaching them unless there's a temporary fault, but they have been making a lot of changes in recent months. The log-off dialogue for instance is now completely different from six months ago, and it no longer re-directs you to the Yahoo home page when you log off (which is a good thing!)

I disagree, however, very much about your statement "People nowadays almost don't use email to communicate between them so developing a email client doesn't make much sense.". In my experience that is not the case. So a powerful email client is a very important offer Opera should make.

@leocg Yes. The label concept is a very interesting addition. But most users want to have the ability to create folders. A realization with a database is fine but should be transparent to the user. Folders can simply be implemented using the database technology.
