Correct me if I am wrong, but with bookmark and speed dial synchronization the thumbnail images are synced as well and stored in the Opera database.

I don't think you are wrong. There is a flag that seems to be related to it.

I'm a returnee to Opera from Firefox, with one of the features I liked in the past being Speed Dial. But, unless I'm missing something including in the posts above, Speed Dial doesn't sync at all; there is a copy in "Other Speed Dials" or whatever. While some posters don't want to have PC SDs on their phone or tablet (fair enough), some of us do. It can't, surely, be that difficult to allow that functionality - e.g. so that some or all SDs can be moved to any chosen device and kept synchronised there. Why describe something as a sync when it's a copy, buried somewhere in a menu. I'm wondering whether I should go back to FF/FVD...

Are you talking about copying a saved speed dial from one device to another? If so, you don't need to open each page and add them, all you need to do is copy and paste the speed dial entries from your other device, to your local speed dial folder (as you would if you were copying files/folders in a file browser)

Go to the bookmarks manager > Other Speed Dials > Open the dial of the device that you want to copy dials from > use ctrl + a to copy all the speed dial entries (or drag mouse to multi-select) > right click > copy (or ctrl + c), then once you've copied them, go to your local speed dial folder in the bookmarks manager and right click > paste (or ctrl + v).

Switch to Firefox, Firefox crash frequently but I have full control to my bookmark, sync between different devices, save a backup copy on my pc. I try to put Opera become my default browser, I gave it up, after I began to work on its bookmark,

Unless you don't have access to any data from your previous OS install, I think the only chance is if you've used Opera with your sync account on any other computer. If so, you can check if either the "Bookmarks" file, or the "Bookmarks.bak" file contains the bookmarks you're missing. The folders are in:
Linux: ~/.config/opera/ Windows: C:\Users\ username \AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\ (If you've also logged in on a windows PC)
How you then restore them is a good question, but I guess you can just try to copy the "Bookmarks" file to every installation you have and try to make sync not delete the bookmarks.

In Opera developer 31 you can remove a device folder.

If you are talking about select the bookmarks you want to sync, i wouldn't expect such feature in a near future.

Each desktop Linux environment uses its own wallet for passwords, so there isn't any easy way to switch from an environment to other.

I heard with Firefox and Thunderbird you can do the thing you say, Threatdown, switching between different operating systems (I did it with Firefox and Thunderbird between different distros), but not with Chromium browsers.

well I've had the same problem and I'm still struggling with it.... come on that is none even none of the helpers from Opera Ltd who would provide a solution from for that I mean

...
I cannot find (in Ubuntu Linux on my phone attached via USB) any kind of folder which would indicate that it belonged to Opera Browser I have some dozens and dozens / almost 200 / saved pages and so on and I would like to transmit it to my new S 5....?!?

I think I've found the issue with 1). It did it again last night after editing bookmarks with another PC. The desktop versions work just fine, updating from sync as they should. The ipad version doesn't necessarily check very often, so doesn't update. I could force an update by closing the app properly (swipe up in recent app view), and then re-starting. There was a slight delay in start up I'd not seen before, no doubt due to it updating from sync.

So the issue is with the ipad version only. Android Mini also works fine, and updates with no issues.

Yeah I hope they can get sync issues under control, it still seems rather wonky especially when syncing between opera pc and android. my android device randomly doesn't show up in 'other speed dials' and tab sync ui. I've yet to have any duplicated bookmarks though
