Here is an example of how this could be useful:

Sometimes I need the window to be small on the right, while I'm working on a bigger window of another program on the left. I don't always need the pinned tabs, but I use the frequently enough for them to be pinned there instead of in the Speed Dial
If I could collapse the pinned tabs island, it would help a lot with my workflow
