Make a back up and if needed create the unexistent folder if you existent one doesn't do the trick.

For Opera back up look at the signature - if need it -.

The extension was updated to 2.4.1 today and it is working again 🙂

As I said above, its an mp4 video which opera's libffmpeg does not support. If you are on a distro that packages chromiumffmpeg codecs, eg ubuntu, install that and it will play. If not, use another browser.
Mouse wheel scrolling not working, erratic cycling through tabs.

For the middle click scroll thing.
Chromium based browsers on linux have it disabled because middle click in linux = paste. If you want to use it for scrolling, install this extension

@ici-o It's very strange. I have no this bug in Windows. I use 32 and 64 bit versions of Opera on different computers. There are no such security messages. Opera is the last stable build.

Some more observations from my side:
Dragging tabs from the windows works reasonably fast I just opened a Youtube link i a new window and it started playing even though the window hadn't been drawn

Just got Opera 49.0.2725.34 and smooth scrolling doesn't work with that version either with extension SmoothScroll Version 1.5.6 by galambalazs.
Can't play videos from zdf.de on 49.0.2725.34 on RHEL v7.4

It seems the videos are all on html5 there, so, instead of mentioning opera's poor html5 support, please check if rhel packages chromium ffmpeg codecs and if it does, install the relevant packages.

If you use kali as stock, that means with only the root user available, it's because opera can not be run as root

Hi @l33t4opera Using --show-opera-menu has worked for me 🙂 Thanks! I've updated my opera.desktop with the new param. I guess us ElementaryOS users just have to hope that there's a permanent fix in v50

I still have the same problem with the latest version of Opera and Elementary OS. Although I can say that Opera looks pretty damn good on Ubuntu 17.10. But if anyone finds a way to disable the title bar please let me know.
