You want to grab the "Bookmarks" and "BookmarksExtras" files in "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Default". Then, after Windows and Opera is reinstalled, you can use those files to replace the fresh, existing copies in the same path (while Opera is closed).

You can also take that "Bookmarks" file and upload it at https://rongjiecomputer.github.io/chrome/bookmark-recovery/#windows. It will convert the file to an HTML file that you can import into Opera by going to the URL opera://settings/importData, selecting "Bookmarks HTML file" in the drop-down and pointing it to the HTML file.

@vandal7 How you do a backup? You simply create a copy of a file or a folder and store it in a different place.

So, in this case, you go to Opera's profile directory, copy the Extensions folders and paste them in a different directory or even a different drive.
