Firstly, before I get to the topic. What the hell is going on with the forum? I see what seems like an endless amount of spam... Doesn't anyone deal with it? I never have seen spam this bad on ANY forum.

Now, to the topic.

I was very happy to see that the bookmark system has been improved, but it is not all that it should be. You cannot ctrl click to select multiple bookmarks and instead have to hover over each one, wait for the menu to pop up and then move the mouse and click the select button. That is a big time waster when you are dealing with many bookmarks, we need to be able to control click like any other browser including the old (best in my opinion) opera browser.

Then, yes you can search and yes the sorting is exactly how I would want it (new bookmarks first), however you cannot choose how you want to order them. This is an important feature which is as yet still missing.

But from what I am seeing so far, it is instilling some hope in me regarding Opera, with exception of the forum debacle I just mentioned.

So good work dev team and I hope that you soon can iron these things out.

Actually I just imported my thousands of bookmarks and when I enter one of my main folders everything is sorted with new things at the bottom. Very disappointing. Including the lag still when dealing with this many bookmarks.

I used to love Opera before it started having memory leak crashing problems with 2.xGB mem usage. Then when they moved to to the new chrome type engine it went to crap.

So. Do we have good old Opera bookmarks? From what I see on my updated portable copy that I keep it appears that there are still no bookmarks after all this time and the promise that bookmarks would be added again. I still do not see per-site settings whether to do with proxy, plugins/flash//javascript or anything else. In fact this Opera browser feels exactly the same as when it first came out.

Am I wrong? Is there something in the pipe line that I am not aware of since I have been out of the loop?

I have too many tabs open for Opera 12, it used to be find back in the day but now it gets to about 1.5 GB ram usage and crashes out. Right before the crash I would have weird glitches with it. Also that sorting shows alphabetical, Where is date modified descending? I always want bookmarks that are newest to appear on the bookmarks menu and the manage bookmarks screen. Neither of which are in Opera. All you got is that bookmarks bar.

At least chrome is chrome, it has all the features of chrome. Opera is based on chrome but is cut down, does not have all of chrome's extensions and options are limited. Opera is complete trash. After being an avid fan for so many years I have to stay away from it like the plague. I have had to force myself to get used to chrome. The day Opera becomes actually Opera is the day I will run to it with open arms. Until that day it is garbage. There is nothing in the current Opera that I want.

No proper download management its even more basic than chrome has witch is completely retarded to say the least
In months since this new version has no real improvement on functionality . Disk usage is insane for a browser i actually had to move the installation out of my SSD ( not to mention the number of processes it uses )

I completely agree. I have been a loyal Opera fanboy since 2006. It had the best features, new tabs opened to the end of the list, bookmarks were snappy and sortable even on the menu access, it was perfect. It could handle my 4000+ bookmarks without an issue. The whole experience was perfect. Sure a few sites did not work well with it but I could handle that, because the over all experience was great. Now that they have had to make Opera from scratch I feel like they are not listening to anyone but themselves. We want bookmarks, they give us a farty little bookmark bar which is about the same thing as having a few websites on the speed-dial. Tabs are still messed up and opening next to the tab you opened it from. You close a tab when you have 30+ tabs open and you have NO IDEA what tab you were previously on because instead of it going back to the tab you were on previously you are now on what ever is the tab next to the one you closed. Opera is crap these days. I waited for months to give the developers a chance to, oh I don't know, DEVELOP Opera. I see zero progress.

Opera is not Opera, it is a cut down version of Chrome with an Opera logo. Garbage. I want my Opera back so much because I do not like chrome, but at the moment Chrome is the only browser I can actually use. I have to keep closing tabs because it sucks all my memory away. I never had that issue with Opera in the old days, I could have 45 tabs open and use up 2 GB of ram. Now I can easily do that on Chrome with 25 tabs.

Give me Opera back.

I cannot believe it. I download Opera 20 developer to see what state the cutting edge of Opera is in. I have no bookmarks, other than a farty little toolbar, still have the useless stash and still cannot apply per-site proxy settings. Also, tabs still open weirdly instead of having new tabs open at the end of the list. Opera is going nowhere fast. Opera is lost, it is nothing compared to what it used to be. So sites work better with Opera today than they did pre-chrome engine, but it is useless when the over all Opera experience has nothing that Opera uses have been choosing Opera for.

If Opera were to get back to their feature roots and actually make Opera great again I would switch back in a second, but I do not have high hopes after waiting many months and checking back to day to see what progress there has been. This feels just the same as when the new Chrome-Opera version first came out. USELESS. I will continue using Chrome until the Opera developers get back on track and make Opera Opera again.

Okay, so I installed 12.16 hoping the memory issues that caused constant daily crashes with many tabs was fixed. I did some preliminary accellerated tests by opening 80 or so bookmarks at one time and so far no crash. But that isn't an organic experience so only time would tell.

However when I am on my gmail it is still laggy as it has been for a long time now over many versions of Opera. Why is it Opera is always laggy as hell on gmail? I don't have those problems with firefox or chrome. Can this be fixed by the developers? Is there a user workaround to bypass the lag?
