Thank you for your responses. My conclusion is that there is no particular justification for any Opera version beyond 12. I use the foxy browser (always the latest release) for financial activities. As for Windows, I have XP SP3, but have found no pressing reason to install it.
I am really attached to Opera voice feature so 12.02 is staying. I have XP SP2 + opera 12.02 due to upgrade issues. There is a creeping need for XP SP3 with non-Firefox browsers which is worth being aware of the issue. A lot of sites are being urged to change to the newer SSL certificate signing using SHA-256 hashing (currently SHA1 hashing is widely used). For example (https://www.dropbox.com) has done this, so any Chrome/Internet Explorer browser will fail unless they run XP SP3 or later Windows operating systems. It does not apply to Firefox as they use open source SSL library that supports SHA-256. You can test this by trying (https://www.dropbox.com) in each browser. But what about Opera 12.x and higher - so far I have not found Opera 12.x to have SSL issues it seems to avoid this issue and must therefore be validating the certificate hashing without using Microsoft library code. I think if the site supports both SHA1 and SHA-256 in the certificate it will work. An example of this is also (https://www.dropbox.com) it works in Opera. You may consider applying SP3 for the odd troubleshooting occasion when you need to test with working Internet Explorer or Chrome browser, although Opera fits this role a lot of important sites just wont display well in Opera 12.x and that will get worse over time. A few other Windows components are going to have signing problems on XP SP2 as cited here (http://bit.ly/18SGayU), so if they were important to your usage then SP3 may be a more compelling for your machine. If Opera and Firefox were not around running a workable browser on XP SP2 would be extremely difficult. It will probably be hardware that ends your XP machine before software or needing SP3
Hi Opera Developer team.
I'm a opera user that using Opera more than 4 Years.
...
Google, Youtube and many SSL/HTTPS sites not opened. auth.opera.com, too.
when I click a link to open t in a new tab it takes 1-2 second to open.
when I go to downloads or extensions it takes more than 2 second to open.
what version of windows are you running?
My question to this platform developers: have you tried to search in the forum? Maybe I'm a bit dumb, it's my fault, so please tell me how to search in forum/subforum, by date, view by topic and not single messages, etc...
I'm sure you implemented these BASIC features and it's my fault not viewing them
One rung above "basic" is use google with "site:forums.opera.com" on end of search it better than what the inbuilt (dare I even call it) "search facility"
It's not that there was less spam during the day. We are just more likely to catch it rather immediately when we're awake...
I agree, though. There should be a set of buzzwords / patterns that need mod approval to show up. I'm getting tired of removing dozens of these senseless posts every day.
Do you have user moderators in other timezones?
Does he not see the "breadcrumbs" above?
Overview>General topics>Forum feedback>forum path
I don't see a bread crumb just the words "forum feedback" for the url "https://forums.opera.com/category/25/forum-feedback" I think @grzejnik32 is asking for that to be replaced with the more useful text of "Overview>General topics>Forum feedback>"
Spam AND NO WAY TO FLAG IT! Wrong
It needs 2 clicks, would be nice to have an dedicated button. Also it would be nice to flag a thread without needing to open it first. Even better would be some heuristic spam filter (new user posts something with suspicious keywords or links).
thanks I found it with that clue - wow that is cumbersome, obscure and I assume there is no way to tell it has been flagged already. Still quite UN-evolved.
Damn they are still using "grey cog" on white background no wonder it is hard to see it and find it, and it is a bad choice for old screens and LCD laptops.
Is anyone still running Opera v12.x (eg v12.02) with LastPass extension HIGHER than LastPass v2.0.13 release. I was curious if I can update and which LastPass versions will run with the Opera 12.x series. LastPass.com forums have not provided a useful answer so far.
Did anyone find a way to use outlook.com on opera 12.02 ?
Yes I know the mobile mode works but that's not what I want.
I tried the extension but that did not work, neither did changing site preferences for identity
[Still on 12.02 as I use Opera voice feature]
I use Opera on a Windows "XP" computer. I get an Invalid Server Certificate each time I try to connect to many sites, including github. I know Microsoft has stopped supporting "XP", but I found out it's a browser thing. I mean I get the same message when using Opera, Chrome or Firefox, but when I use other browsers like Qupzilla, I can connect with no issues. Is it because Opera hasn't updated "XP" support as well? Any way around this?
Are you on XP SP3 and are you sure chrome works? Firefox uses different SSL libraries so usually Chrome/Oera fail but Firefox works.

I have not been on forums for more than a year or two. The forum was where I went to get legacy information to support older versions. People running legacy version where can they go to lookup info that was in the forums?
So far I have noticed these forums have:
How very UN-evolved
