Why if in the same place it says that you have unlimited VPN traffic?

The word "Unlimited" in advertising has little connection to the word "unlimited" as found in a dictionary.

In advertising, "unlimited" really means that there are non-disclosed limits that, upon being reached, mark the one reaching them as acting in an "abnormal" or "non-intended" fashion.

I am speculating based on my experiences with the VPN and my knowledge that we live in a world of limits, not a world of magical unicorns and free lunches.

Someone from Opera is free to come and offer a more plausible explanation of the observed behavior, of course...

If you click on the VPN button you will notice that it lists how much data you have sent through the VPN for the month.

I feel confident asserting that once you pass a certain amount of traffic, your VPN access will go "unavailable" until a certain cooldown passes.

I have two machines running Opera in front of me right now. The VPN service is functioning on one, but not the other. Same configuration, same IP... but different amounts of VPN data usage and thus (I believe) different rights to VPN access.

I have no problem with a cooldown system on a free service, but I do think it ought to be made more clear what is going on rather than giving a message that implies a technical glitch.

I'm guessing your distro's versions of those libraries are just too old for Opera's tastes. You're still running a 2.6 kernel after all...

CentOS aims for system stability and that requires sacrificing the ability to run bleeding-edge software. Unfortunately all modern browsers fall in that category.

I don't think Opera has a LTS version. It might be possible to grab and install an older version with older depencies from the FTP site.

I see this issue in KDE4 on Linux Mint 17.3.

It's not just affecting maximization, either. Opera refuses to remember its window resolution whenever the window is sized to 100% of the monitor's vertical resolution.

Based on the info from https://deb.opera.com/manual.html it appears you would need to run from this from your terminal:

What desktop to you use? On KDE4 there is a global "Mouse wheel scrolls by X lines" setting in System Settings > Input Devices > Mouse > Advanced. I also have a HiDPI screen and found increasing this from the default helped in all programs.

I don't see a similar setting in XFCE's mouse controls, though, and I'm don't have any other DEs installed to check.

Even if we ignore how little a difference in server load self-hosted 100x100 pixel JPGs make in a world of 10MB+ javascript-filled webpages and TB-sized hard drives, it's still true that there are a million different images hosts out there that allow unlimited hotlinking and anonymous uploading for things like avatars.

I have no problem with forcing third-party avatar hosting, but why limit it to just one provider, one that demands email addresses in return for this trivial-in-2016 service?
