In Opera\mail\store\account I have all my mails from 2010 january on.But the current view only shows the mails from the last 2 years ( 2014 till now ). How can I retrieve the older ones when needed ? The retrieving does not need to be permanent, but just that I can have a look when needed.
Thanks for your help and advice !

Corrupt email database index - How to repair ???Opera for Windows
Due to a haphazardous corruption of my WIN 10 - profile, I could no longer enter my Opera email account. In trying to resolve the matter one way or another my email database index ( with 70.000+ messages ) went also bezerk !!! I still have all .mbx & .adr files. on disk. But searching the database for either a contact, a term or a date gives totally erroneous results ! How can I repair this ?
I know I'm a bit crazy to stick with Opera mail, but after all those years and all those crashes, I still am used to and appreciate this whacky program -
RE: How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
Well, first of all, thank you so much burnout426 ! Sure you're not yet burned out ! It seems to work smoothly now - except for the one tricky problem that is handled in another thread.
What did I have to do :
1- delete the newly created folder in "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail".
2- Put the mail root directory line under the [Mail] section in a operaprefs.ini, rather than under "Users preferences "as I did first.
All other conditions were OK. And my E-drive is a 500GB partition on a big 2T HDD.Thanks again and see you at the next problem

RE: How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
I did move "C:\Users\myName\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail\mail" to E:\Opera . So there was no longer this file in C:
and put "Mail Root Directory=E:\OPERA\mail" in operaprefs.ini
Starting operamail then opens the wizard new account ! But I do not want a new account !!!
What went wrong ??Thx

RE: Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
"Have you edited the file with Opera closed ? " Of course
"You were able to save it ?" Yes. The file before editing was 2691 b; after editing it was 2777 b. But at the very moment Opera mail is started the file defaults to 2691 b,This one ( rather Short ) message is still in the outbox while I had no one problem in sending some 10 other and different messages.
Thinking of it : the 2 messages that got stucked in the outbox were 2 'forwards'.I'm now a Opera users since way more than 15 years and I keep wondering why it is that each "upgrade" time and again comes with bugs and problems. Why always change a winning team without toroughly checking it out first ??? I was quite happy with the combined browser-mail client that I used the last couple of years. And all of a sudden, with this bloody "automatic upgrade" I'm in the sh*t ! No longer is the mail combined with the browser, but there is this idiosyncratic error !!
I think of downgrading to the previous client, but that is again a lot of work. And I'm not sure that it will be fluent, because I changed to a new PC and OS ( Win 7 => Win 8 ). Greetz. -
RE: Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
@leocg who said "It's in accounts.ini. You need to add the line Outgoing Log File=X:\Path-to-Folder\logfile.txt."
To no avail. This added line is automatically deleted when starting Opera mail
@burnout : I therefore cannot check what might have happened,Sending the message to another adres is no problem. And the original address is abolutely without errors and in use since years.'

Thx for comments.
@sgunhouse : sure it is on my end. The last message is still in the outbox after 24 hrs.
@burnout : I'll try and follow suit. Thx. -
RE: Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
" Maybe it was typed wrongly? "
Not at all. I used copy/paste.
And today, another message, quite small to but 1 address , again stays put in the outbox and cannot be sended.

RE: Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
The forwarding of an attachment of 3.2 MB to 36 recipients did not succeed, as I said. I bypassed this problem in the following way : I made up a new message with the attachment , thus not forwarding from the original, and send it to the recipients but in chunk of 12 addresses. The third sending to the last 12 did not succeed. I deleted 1 adres and the problem was solved. I then sended a 4th and last message to this very same address, without any problem !!!! ????
For the other 2 messages to but 1 adress that didn't get through, I put the original message in a word file as attachment and did send it to the address now without any problem ! ?????
And yes, I would like to enable and view logging but I do not see how to achieve this in this client. I do not find a line about logging in none of the prefs.ini files.

RE: How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
Yes I did so. But then I saw that the new messages did not go to this new file but that the - not yet deleted - mail-folder in C: was updated. I did not want to delete this original folder in C: as long as I was not quite sure about the correct function of the new one on E:. 29 GB is a hell of a mass to loose

RE: Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
No, nothing. For a while there is the message : "sending messages" on the function bar, it disappears after a while and the 3 messages are still in the Outbox, unaltered.
I deleted them to the garbage bin and brought them back and tried again to send them. To no avail.
I deleted them definitely and wrote one of the messages - a forward - anew, To no avail
Other messages went through without problem !

Opera mail - some mails cannot be sended ! ????Opera for Windows
Platform : Opera Mail 1.0, build 1040, Win32 with OS Win8
I have 2 messages in my outbox that I can not send. I tried time and again but to no avail.I can't find any reason; more specifically the adresses are all correct. Other messages can be sended without any problem.Any idea what could be the cause ?????
I tried to find a log file for outgoing acivities but this seems not to exist in this mail-client.

RE: How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
Thx but my OS is Win 8 and IE was and is set to show hidden folders. That could thus not be the reason.
May I reiterate my request ?
I'm using Opera Mail V1.0 build 1040 Win32 OS Win 8.
On C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Opera Mail I have 29 Giga B (sic ) of mail.
I now would like very much to move this huge file away from C: to E:\OPERA\Opera Mail
But just setting the new wanted path in operaprefs does not work, be it under users prefs or not.
How should I do it ??Thx in advance.

RE: How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
Thx. But when I do this, I need to start up anew.I did choose "import email". I then was asked to give the file with the "account.ini" .This file is located at " C:\Users\myName\AppData\Local\Opera Mail\Opera Mail\mail\accounts.ini ". But when I try to fill this in, I get the answer "invalid path". So I'm stuck ! Note : I opened as administrator with full rights.

How to move the root directory of the new Opera Mail , the stand alone mail client ?Opera for Windows
I know there is a thread on that topic but using the search function doesn't show it up here. So i re-iterate the question.
I'm using Opera Mail V1.0 build 1040 Win32 OS Win 8. Not that I wanted it this way, but with the last opera-upgrade all of a sudden the browser and the emailclient were separated
Now, I would like to move the root directory for the mail ("Opera Mail") to a new directory ("OPERA") on a new partition ( E:\ ). The new path would thus be : E:\OPERA\Opera Mail
I did put the statement "Mail Root Directory=E:\OPERA\Opera Mail" in "operaprefs.ini" under "[User Prefs]" , but to no avail What did I do wrong ? And most important : what and how should I do it ??
Thank you in advance for an expert answer.
