in the meantime I went back to a clean image and could update to Opera 39.
Maybe something was wrong with the last installation...
What is the difference between your large Opera_39.0.2256.48_Setup.exe and OperaSetup.exe which I used?

I described that 2 day ago:
"Next try - Got a fresh OperaSetup.exe from Opera and start ist. Same answer, 37.0 reported."
There are 2 folders:
37.0.2178.43
39.0.2256.48
Hi,
Of course I had old versions of Opera, since v 3,5 or so... never had problems with updates.
And operaprefs.ini is from this august ...? If it just remained from an old version, why is it new?
I open Menue / about and find as actual version 37.0; to update for 39.0 I press the Start Button on that tab. The tab refreshs and shows v 37 again.
Next try - Got a fresh OperaSetup.exe from Opera and start ist. Same answer, 37.0 reported.
And never used Opera Mail.
As I wrote - I changed to the new engine (version Opera 27) in Feb. 2015.
There is no old version on my Computer.
And operaprefs.ini is about 2 weeks old.
And why does the actual version says V.37 while Opera\installation_status.xml reports V.39 ??
Strange kind of a game?
Hi,
if operaprefs.ini is only used by older versions, why is it's file date from august 2016? I left this old version in Feb. 2015 ...
New problem: I tried an Update from 37 to 39.
When I start the program, it shows 37 as actual version.
The file C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\installation_status.xml records version="39.0.2256.48" ?
It's nearly impossible to compare from Opera GUI.
In the meantime I found the file operaprefs.ini.
But it is too large to compare alle the entries, even with WINDIFF - I don't know what to search there.
Any ideas?
Hi
I want to compare two Opera settings from different computers. Both are 37.0.
One works properly, with the other I have problems while login to a site that works on the other one.
Where do I find the settings? Are they text-files?
Can I transfer one setting to the 2. computer?
Actually I was asked to renew my Opera password. Is it really from Opera or is it some kind of scam?
Thank you for your help.
Editing the bookmark area is a little bit curious (for me) - took some time to find out how to delete / move entries.
CTRL TAB works in the meantime for cycling tabs.
And now I must create all my old & often used tabs :=(
Hello,
for a long time I used Opera 12.17 as I have problems with newer versions.
Simple example: I made an update from 28 to 37 - and lost all my open tabs. I have to reopen about a dozen of often-used tabs: is that normal?
Many functions well established in 12.17 do not work or do not work properly now:
The bookmark list imported from an older version is accessible via 5 or 6 clicks - much too complicated. In 12.17 there was a star symbol left of the window where I could easily open my bookmarks.
The bookmark list is not longer in alphabetical order bur random. Horrible.
CTRL TAB doesn't change between two tabs - a function I often use and need.
Is there a way that Opera 37 works as previous versions? I use Opera since V.3 ...
Thank you, but that is very different from previous versions - not all options are available.
With V.12 I had direct access to my bookmarks by a star on the left side; now I have to walk along four steps to find my provate bookmarks...
Nice, but where can I find the Opera menu? I changed to V.27 6 weeks ago - there is no menu ...
Hello,
how many processes are running with Opera 27 ?
In february I changed from Opera 12.17 to Version 27. The new program works rather slowly, and just now I started the Windows taskmanager. I see 24 processes with the name opera-exe *32 - this cannot be normal. One of thiese processes belongs to Opera 12.17, all the others to Opera 27.
Does someone here know what happens - and what to do against this behaviour?
Additionally I miss the menue I know from all older Opera versions, available by clicking at the "O" in the upper left window corner.
