I confirm. I'm getting so tired of this they release an update without ANY basic checks whether it works or not on Linux system. This is ridiculous.
sudo snap revert opera

Ok, they managed to fix snap, however there are lots of other issues appearing now. Bitwarden extension stop working, the settings for speed dial are gone. I do not know what the hell is going on with Opera team :(((
@metana You can try this
wget https://api.snapcraft.io/api/v1/snaps/download/AljMvoQbHtnnrka00lIoxHJ6Qhfn0X8m_410.snap
sudo snap install --dangerous AljMvoQbHtnnrka00lIoxHJ6Qhfn0X8m_410.snap
@ijpet I confirm exactly the same experience. Both deb and snap are completely broken
So I could download and install snap from 410 version. It's not ideal, but might work as a temporal solution
wget https://api.snapcraft.io/api/v1/snaps/download/AljMvoQbHtnnrka00lIoxHJ6Qhfn0X8m_410.snap
sudo snap install --dangerous AljMvoQbHtnnrka00lIoxHJ6Qhfn0X8m_410.snap
@alexbcrow7 Also deb is not working for me. It gives installation errors. It seems to be ridiculous that a browser can not even be installed.
@UltraVio1et Thanks, I wish I knew this earlier! I already tried to re-install it, also using deb and flatpak, there is nothing to revert to anymore.
@Malfet An addition: removing and installing from scratch does not help. At-least the snap version of opera is completely down.
Opera Ubuntu does not start after last snap update
It seems to be a common issue, there are a number of complains on Reddit about it.
Opera always takes very very very long time to start after every single update on Ubuntu. Honestly, I would rather switch off all opera updates on Linux forever, even so I do not mind them on Windows, just because the amount of time it takes is absolutely ridiculous.
Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS
@leocg It happens also in Chrome and even Firefox. It also behaves the same on Windows and Linux, but for some reasons works on Mac. I really do not get why... The reason I posted the question here was my hope to disable the search from address bar specifically in Opera, because I could not do it in Chrome. But now I seems to be totally screwed...
@leocg Thanks for the reply. The URL is correct, but only specific URL gives this weird behavior. The URL looks like this http://server.ip.add.ress:port_number/token I know that the URL is correct, the server is up and running, the port is open, the token is correct and the entire URL should work, if the browser would actually follow the URL instead of searching for it!
Hi all,
Starting from yesterday both Chrome and Opera started to search for normal URL instead of going to URL. I scroll entire internet looking for options how to get rid of this nightmare or at-least to disable the search from the address bar and found it close to impossible. The most common answer to disable 'Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar' in settings - Does Not Help . It has zero effect on the browser behavior. I can add a "null" search engine in Opera, but I can not specify it as a default search engine, so this solution does not help either. I tried to disable all possible options related to 'autofill' - no effect. Any other ideas/suggestions??? Please??
