Or, are you referring to just https://jalopnik.com/c/news?

Both of those load fine in Opera for me though.

Are you using Opera's VPN or Adblocker? If so, try without them. Any extensions installed? Try disabling them.

Regarding alobpreis' suggestions:

Disabling extensions and the problem still occurs. Going to the blog using "in private window" mode and the problem doesn't occur. I know where to find developer options in the menu but don't know anything about what I am seeing.

It would seem that somehow the Opera browser in this machine thinks it's in India and there should be a setting or a work around.

Yes, I think something bad snuck into my machine.
The reason I wanted to change the search engine is because it was only doing it with Opera and only Google. I did a system restore which seemed to fix the problem then saw Donq's message and ran ADWCleaner which was good advice.
Now I'll see what happens.

Just to be perfectly clear about my problem I will explain it in more detail:
I like to read my favorite daily comics every day so I keep their links in a folder. Clicking Ctrl along with the left mouse button on the folder should open all the comic strips in separate tabs at one time. This hotkey used to work with opera and still works with my other browsers but now no longer works with my Opera version 34.2036.25.
My question - is there a fix for this?

The problems with Opera appears to have been corrected by restoring the computer to an earlier time then downloading a fresh Opera therefore I will call this issue resolved.

I believe the situation was created by my efforts to remove a re-direct malware that had attached itself to my Interenet Explorer.

Okay, I have figured out how its done. One would think the files would be found in the Opera folder located in <C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera> but they are not. Finding the location of those files is the first problem. Here's how its done.

Directions for migrating Opera settings, speed dial favorites etcetera to another computer.

Open Opera.
Click the Opera button located in the upper left corner.
Click "About Opera".
Copy the profile address.
Click the start button in the task bar and paste the profile address into the search window.
This should bring up the "Opera Stable" folder.
Copy "Opera Stable into a flash Drive.
Move the flash drive to machine #2 & follow the above directions ending with replacing the existing Opera Stable with the one in the flash drive.
