RE: Opera not connecting to any site.Opera for Windows
What about trying uninstalling Opera, rebooting, then turning everything that might conceivably act as a firewall off (antivirus, 3rd party system monitoring utilities, etc) before re-installing Opera? Shouldn't need to have them turned off for very long in order to install and test Opera.

RE: advanced settingsOpera for Windows
When you click the advanced settings option, it adds the available advanced settings right on the same page (for example, in privacy and security settings, it adds WebRTC to the settings shown on that page).
There's a 'find in page' option located in the main menu, under 'page', or you can bring it up with ctrl-F. Print is in there as well, or via ctrl-P.
Is that what you mean?

RE: VPN for Opera not working in Windows, but works on Ubuntu/LinuxOpera for Windows
Not sure if this will work on your system or not, but ...
I am finding that if VPN is turned on when I close the browser, then on startup most of the time VPN will not work (orange icon; location unavailable message) -- I have to turn it off for a few seconds, set it to Optimal location when I turn it back on, and when the icon stays blue I can set it back to my original preferred location. Once I've turned it off, back on, and reset the location it then works reliably.

RE: Opera not connecting to any site.Opera for Windows
Sorry - quick question: when you say 'firewall off does nothing', are you referring to having completely turned off / disabled the Windows 7 Firewall (or are you referring to a router or other firewall)?
If the Win 7 Firewall and turning it off completely doesn't help, then this suggestion may be a waste of time (depending on your firewall settings) ... but just for completeness' sake maybe try deleting the firewall rule - perhaps there's a weird glitch in there somewhere.

RE: Opera 40 - Unable to viw PDFs (can only dl)Opera for Windows
It appears this problem is primarily occurring on secure (https) websites - afaik I can view pdfs on non-secure sites with no problem, but on the secure sites I can only save/dl the file.
Have gone through and changes all settings to just about every option available without success. My settings in Opera are substantially the same as those in Chrome, but I can view the files in Chrome but not in Opera.
Anyone having the same problem? Any ideas?

RE: Opera 40 - Unable to viw PDFs (can only dl)Opera for Windows
Thanks - apparently not, although I had thought so. I'd assumed it was happening with everything, because the 10 or so I had tried all failed, and yet I could view all of them in Chrome with no problem.
I've just tested a whole bunch more, though, and have found some that do in fact open for viewing. I've no idea how to determine what the difference is between ones that work and ones that don't. Of the ones that don't, though, all of them are fine in Chrome.
If they all can be viewed in another browser, does that then point to something with the Opera viewer as the problem? Or ...?
(I really don't want to have to go back to Chrome!)
Thanks for the help.

RE: Opera 40 - Unable to viw PDFs (can only dl)Opera for Windows
Addendum: Just noticed the 'details' tab on the upper right of the plugins page, and set it to show details ...
The 2 Chrome PDF Viewer types listed there are 'Browser Plugin' (MIME type application/pdf), and 'PPAPI (out-of-process)'MIME type application/x-google-chrome-pdf. Both are enabled. The Browser Plugin file lists a location, at chrome-extension://longstringof letters; the PPAPI lists its location as 'internal-pdf-viewer'.
There. That's all the info I can muster up. I hope someone can help me get this working.
Thanks!

Opera 40 - Unable to viw PDFs (can only dl)Opera for Windows
Hello. Opera 40 on Windows 7 - I cannot view PDF files; upon clicking on a file link, the 'save as' box comes up right away (I can only save the file, not view it). When I hover over the file link, the hints dialogue says 'opens pdf in a new window', but it doesn't.
The PDF Viewer plugin is listed on the opera:plugins page and is enabled. It says "Chrome PDF Viewer", and indicates there are 2 files. There is only an enable/disable button (no options, no other information). I have tried disabling then re-enabling it with no change.
Have also tried disabling all extensions, also disabling both the ad blocker and VPN, but none of that makes any difference. In Settings, have tried all of the plugins options and hat doesn't make any difference either. Not running in Turbo.
What am I missing here? Why can I only download (save to my HD) PDF files, instead of viewing them? I work a lot with pdf files and really need this to work - any help will be appreciated.

RE: [Solved]Cookie management in Opera v40Opera for Windows
Thank you! That's brilliant - I now have Vanilla installed, which (so far) appears to work well enough for my purposes.
Thanks again. I really appreciate the help.

RE: [Solved]Cookie management in Opera v40Opera for Windows
Thanks for the response - yes, I've checked, and the settings do allow blocking of cookies, with the possibility of creating an exceptions list. However, blocking all cookies except the ones I want to keep undeleted tends to hamstring browsing. Websites can be pretty insistent about wanting to place cookies and while I don't want to keep their cookies I would like to be able to browse the sites. As well, some of the sites that I log into need to place their cookie, but I don't want to keep the cookies from all of them (just a chosen few).
No extensions that work like cookie culler (not available for opera, it seems)?

[Solved]Cookie management in Opera v40Opera for Windows
I am new to using Opera on the PC (Win 7); I've installed version 40.0 and am unable to find any way to selectively whitelist cookies. I'd like specific cookies to be maintained (not deleted), without having to laboriously troll through a long list of cookies prior to deleting them. Am also unable to locate an extension that will do this for me.
Am I simply missing something, or, is this not possible with Opera? If not, can anyone recommend an Opera extension that I can use for this?
Thanks for any help / advice.

Question re: bookmarks and Opera update from v.26Opera for Android
I am presently running Opera v26.0.1656 on ICS 4.0.4, on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. I need to root the tablet but cannot find any way to export nor back up my bookmarks (no Opera Link, the share feature is not working, and I can't find any directory on my device in which Opera stores bookmarks and other data). Is anyone is aware of a way to back them up, without the 'share' feature?
If I update Opera to the newest version:
- Will all my data, bookmarks and passwords and etc. be retained / ported from v26 to the new version?
- Will the sync feature work with 4.0.4, so I can back them up, from my tablet to my desktop (Opera v 29.0), that way?
- Will sync'd data / bookmarks etc restore to a fresh / different install of Opera Android than the one they were originally sync'd from? (ie, if I have to start from sctratch with a new apk after rooting)
TIA for any help anyone can offer.
