@artie
Yep, you got it - Opera.
I wanted to give the folks out there giving that bland, blah response of "turn off suggested sites" a better perspective that the rest of actually see...

RE: Can't edit/copy the full URL from the URL barOpera GX
@sophiapriest
One user in 2022 said he uninstalled Opera and reinstalled it.That should not be the requirement today but apparently it is....
I too have the same issue, occurring since the more recent Opera updates.But I can at least do a CTRL + C to perform the copy/paste.

RE: not capable of copying urlOpera for Windows
@cyberkaz
Yep, that is quite stupid. That you had to uninstall and reinstall, in 2022 - when we should be far removed from having to do such a mundane thing like that.2024
--- STILL happening. I can do a CTRL + C on the keyboard but NOT (as you experienced) able to use the mouse to copy/paste.
The weird thing is, this only started with recent Opera updates...
How crazy is that... -
RE: Unwanted icons on speed dial.Opera for Android
@artie
I'll be ditching Opera - ASAP, I just came across a fact that I was not aware of.
Opera is owned by a chinese company - "Kunlun Tech Limited"I use it for too much sensitive information but, that stops today, moving Opera usage over to Chrome...

@artie
Yes, I started noticing this as well on my Samsung (android) s23.
A royal pain in the rear hinnie.The ad bar has been showing:
1st - Walmart
2nd - facebook
with icons for AskMe / Chess / AI chat / a few others - these icons I can delete but not the ad bar that appears over the icons...Anyone out there got anything on how to stop this. anything...!!!!????
It appears to be the latest update for, either:
a) opera
b) Samsung -
RE: Can't drag windows to move themOpera for computers
@darkfister Yep, opera thought they'd be super-smart (cute) in removing as much of the browser bevel as they could get away with - not thinking strategically that there are many of us who do want a bit more bevel to grab (without having to get out a magnifying glass) hold of and manipulate the browser window.
Right now, kinda sucks, still... -
RE: Can't drag windows to move themOpera for computers
@vampyrnees Nah. That is the side some of us do not wish to use.
Me, for one, wishes to grab anywhere along the top - this allows us (me) to move the browser as far off to the side as I desire. But now, the browser bevel is so tiny, it is very difficult to grab it and drag the browser.
That is the issue. -
RE: Speed Dial boxes color changeSuggestions and feature requests
@bakaonline Of course - yes indeed....!!!
VERY pathetic - opera making these changes believing WE ALL want them.
Without an option to modify them to what we prefer or return to default.
My speed dial icons are all dark backgrounds.
This is why I return to firefox and chrome so often.
a) stupid dark, unmodifiable icons -
RE: Speed Dial boxes color changeSuggestions and feature requests
@carpet Yessss....!!!!!
This is rather pathetic. That opera makes these changes believing that all of us will like them.
And without giving us an option to modify them to what we like.
I saw one person state to you "did you know we have customizable icons" - but when I tried to research and figure out how to modify the icons, I came up dry - no success.
My speed dial icons for web pages are all dark backgrounds. As it is, I personally despise dark theme pages and always opt for light themes.
This is why I continue to go firefox and chrome so often.
a) stupid dark, unmodifiable icons
b) stupid, crappy, annoying update/relaunch opera splash page with loud music even though your speakers are set to low (I listen to music while working but now have to remove my ear buds whenever this crappy opera updates...
