Well, you lot at opera have done it again.

I had previously posted about the Flash Player popup message (let us turn off that flash announcement popup) which finally sorted itself out when Opera updated to 74.0.3911.75.
But now, tabs are being snoozed regardless of whether the option is turned on or off in settings. So well done, you have replaced an annoying problem with a bloody annoying problem.

Sort your act out.

By the way there is another post mentioning this and they are running Opera 75.0.3939.0 developer update, so this problem must have been around for some time.

I searched for any extensions to view 2 tabs side by side (split screen) within the same window.
Couldn't find one but I came across this extension, Tab Resize by Peter Shin:

Please don't let the next bit put you off, I think its worth putting up with a minor irritation for the convenience it offers.
The extension is well laid out and easy to use, however in Windows 10 when splitting the tabs into windows there will be a small gap between them, you may not even find this distracting.
I found the fastest way to overcome this is to split the windows, drag the left window to the left so it maximises, then just click on the other window and it will maximise on the right side, no more gaps.
The best bit is when you are done, or if you make a mistake, you just click undo and everything is back where it started in one window.

Tried opening opera earlier (67.0.3575.31), it just hanged and I had to end the program.
I reinstalled it after renaming the profile folder, it was fine while I was doing all the settings, but when you log in to sync it hangs again.
I checked on another computer and the same thing happened, it also happens on older versions so it must be sync causing it.

@burnout426 My Opera updated to version 74.0.3911.75, this introduced the "Snooze inactive tabs...." option which I found was snoozing tabs even if disabled.
I installed the "Disable automatic tab discarding" extension you suggested, it seems to be working ok - I will test it further and report back if it stops working or any problems arise.

Yes Opera is Chromium-based, but it is open source and should be up to the developers at opera to change this code as they see fit, not just skin it with their own interface and blame the underlying code. I can see the point of keeping it the same as possible to chromium, but when features start to be become too intrusive or plainly don't work, then something should be done about it.

Yes we get it, flash is gone (going....) Microsoft is dragging its feet removing it from windows completely through windows update - they should have removed it on 01 Jan and be done with it.
We all know its going, so can you please let us disable that damn annoying "Flash Player will no longer be supported after December 2020" popup message.

I have installed it and is working fine, tabs are not being snoozed any more. I will test it further and report back if it stops working or any problems arise.

@ctj I use uBlock Origin, do not get any YouTube adverts at all.
