As long as no roadmap, real vision - or even direct replies from the Opera Team itself - is shared, then I believe it's just a one-shot promotional thing...

I'd be calmer with Split screen, Tab Island, Compact mode, and Profile management

RE: How to create Tab Islands?Feedback
@sudeshttt nope there is no tab island (for now ?)
You'll only find extensions that resize your browser windows, but usually this is already managed on the OS level, should it Windows, macOS or Linux via keyboard shortcut -
Hooked on Air, but should I really ?Feedback
So I'm not sure why, but I'm getting hooked on Opera Air.
There's indeed something calm about this browser, though to be honest, it's not so much the Boosts and the Breaks for me but the overall frozen glass appearance. Maybe it's because it changes from my ever dark mode applied everywhere else without being too aggressively bright either.
I'm only frustrated to see missing features - which I previously reported - while I do understand that Air would simply become a mod/theme on top of the classic flavor of Opera.
And at the same time I hear about previously abandoned Opera projects and we don't seem to have any visibility about the future of this version.
I think we actually need some sort of roadmap, should there be any at all.

A Focus mode hiding address bar and bookmark barRequests
i'm not sure whether this is possible on Chromium based browsers but Orion Browser - based on Webkit - has this cool Focus mode which basically only displays the web page without the address bar and without the bookmark bar. I can toggle via gesture the bookmark bar but it would be nice to hide everything.
And I'm not talking about going full screen because, this would prevent me from displaying two windows next to each other.

Split screen / Real profiles / Compact modeRequests
Having tested Opera Air for a few days now, I have to say one thing : I really enjoy the transparency look and feel. I also like the Boosts and how we're able to adjust every element.
Now I do not understand the removal of split screen and tab island. For a mindful browser, it's hard to imagine that it could be more soothing to manage two windows side by side or to get lost in all the open pages.
I did find custom side panel in Opera's flags but not those two elements
Also why don't we still have a true native profile management (at least on macOS, in any Opera flavor) ? Wouldn't it be more relaxing to be able to truly start a personal browsing session without finding one's work-related bookmarks, account cookies, or history?
Finally, I'm a big fan of Safari's compact mode. I'm not sure whether this tweak is possible on a Chromium-based browser but give more space to the web page for a more minimalist approach would be really nice on Opera Air.
Opera Air aims to bring you a bit of zen at work. However, the removal of several productivity tools, which are present in the classic version of the browser, ultimately makes it more suitable for personal use at home rather than professional. It's a shame, because if there's one place where we're least likely to be stressed... it's at home.

RE: Are true native profiles on the roadmap ?Opera for Mac
@leocg Where do you see profiles ? I only see Spaces.
I get the same bookmarks in all Spaces,
I'm logged in the same accounts in all Spaces
I can only sign in one Opera account -
Are true native profiles on the roadmap ?Opera for Mac
I'd love to switch from Brave but I desperately need true native profiles to dissociate personal from professional bookmarks and login credentials.
Spaces are just not enough
If Google and Brave can do it on Chromium, why not Opera ?
Is there a way to achieve this on macOS via an extension, for instance ?Thank you
