@burnout426 Sincere thanks for the thorough answer and the link that shows the syntax. Hoping to get this to work in the next few days.

Can I tell Opera which session to use when launching a page?Opera for Windows
I normally launch Opera and then do a Ctrl-Shift-N to launch a private browsing session. From an external program that I wrote in FoxPro, I can launch a tab in the first session by using the following command, where variable lcUrl contains the link to be launched:
RUN START "C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\launcher.exe" &lcUrl
(The syntax is probably different in other programming languages. RUN START tells FoxPro to execute a DOS Shell command.)
The command always launches the URL in a new tab on my first Opera session, and there are some links that I would prefer to launch in the second session. Is there an additional switch I can add to tell Opera that I want the page to open up in the second session?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Block SiteOpera add-ons
New problem. I added a password, and now the product won't accept it. Hoping that can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling. I have a feeling that even if that works, I will once again lose my entire list of blocked sites.

Unable to lookup phone numberOpera for Windows
I noticed this strange behavior recently. If I type a phone number into the URL bar in 999-999-9999 format in Chrome or EDGE, the browser understands that I'm searching for lookup information on the party that owns that phone number. (I sometimes let incoming calls roll over to voicemail and then do a search to see if the caller is someone I actually want to talk to.) If I enter that number in Opera, the number is simply copied to my clipboard and no search results page is launched. That's today's behavior. When I tried to do the same thing about a month ago, Opera thought I was trying to use it as a calculator, and it displayed an amount equal to the first three digits minus the next three digits mins the final four digits. The workaround in Opera seems to be to precede the phone number with text, e.g., Phone 415-555-1212.
Has anyone else noticed this? I think it's a recent occurrence, because I've been doing similar lookups without a problem for at least five years.
By the way, I'm running Opera Version 86.0.4363.59 on Windows 10.

RE: Block SiteOpera add-ons
@purpledonkey I agree that installing and blocking are easy. However, the product continues to lose my entire blocked list every now and then, and it has now become impossible for me to un-block a site even if I remove every instance of that site from my blocked list. I would have to say that saving a few seconds on setup doesn't really compensate for software bugs that the vendor doesn't seem to want to fix.

RE: Block SiteOpera add-ons
@jasonbegaming No, I just try not to get too bent out of shape when it happens. More recently, I have run across sites that I can't remove from the blocked list. Equally annoying, but nothing to lose sleep over.

@mrsomewhere If you're only worried about the Amazon extension pushing others down, just right-click on the green icon and select Hide Amazon.

RE: Amazon Promotion ExtensionOpera for Windows
@leocg I'm hoping you'll have a similar answer for the following extensions. I never noticed them in my list prior to yesterday, and it looks like none of them can be removed:
Aliexpress observer
Amazon promotion
Background worker
Bookmarks
Chromium PDF Viewer
CryptoTokenExtension
Google Hangouts
News feed handler
Onboarding popup
Opera Crypto Wallet
Rich Hints Agent
Stormcrow
Video handlerOn the other hand, if there's an extension that should not be on that list, I'll take that as a sign to uninstall and reinstall.

Trying to recover an add-on that disappearedOpera add-ons
For about a year, I've been using a video capture add-on that has always worked seamlessly with Opera. It allows me to download from any site that stores and displays video (as opposed to sites that stream video from elsewhere). I would like to reinstall it but I can't remember the name. What I do remember is that I had to click on a small, light blue, downward pointing arrow in the upper right corner of the browser. The add-on would then display a dropdown list of objects that were available to download on that page.
If anyone is familiar with the add-on that has the blue arrow icon, kindly let me know. Otherwise, if someone can suggest a way to view extensions that I have used in the past, that would be great. Thanks.

RE: Block SiteOpera add-ons
I have been using this extension for a few years. Yesterday when I went to the Options page, I immediately noticed that all of the sites I had added to the blocked list were gone. Does that list of sites exist in a file somewhere on my computer, and is there an easy way to restore? That list contained very many sites, and I don't want to re-enter them again manually unless absolutely necessary. Thank you.

RE: Delete HistoryOpera add-ons
This looked like exactly what I needed, since History Eraser only allows me to delete for a certain time range but doesn't allow me to just delete for specific sites. However, when I installed the extension, the icon appeared and then immediately disappeared in the display area. Is there any other way for me to activate it? I'm running Opera 70.0.3728.133 for Windows.

RE: Opera won't let me downgrade from 70 to 68Opera for Windows
@andrew84 Thanks. I saw your reply as I was finishing mine. Two questions:
-
Where on your computer did you find opera_autoupdate.exe?

I'm getting a bunch of Notifications telling me to activate McAfee. I suspect I've downloaded a tainted version of Opera. Do you have a link for Version 68.0.3618.63?

RE: Opera won't let me downgrade from 70 to 68Opera for Windows
OK, it worked. To summarize, I performed the following steps to downgrade from 70 to 68:
- Uninstall Opera 70.
- Download a previous version of Opera.
- Kill internet connection.
- Install the previous version.
- Close the Opera session that was launched during the install process.
- Access the Opera shortcut that was created on the desktop during the installation.
- Go to Properties \ Shortcut. In the Target textbox, add " --disable-update" (without the quotes) to the end of the existing Target string.
- Launch Opera from the shortcut.
Check Help \ About. For me, it now shows: Version:68.0.3618.63 ... Update checker is disabled

Opera won't let me downgrade from 70 to 68Opera for Windows
Opera 70 is causing my Windows 10 computer to crash at least once a day. Every time I uninstall 70 and install 68, the install process launches an Opera session, and that automatically runs the update to 70 again. I know that in a desktop shortcut, I can add " --disable-update" to prevent it from auto-updating, but I can't find a way to prevent the update that occurs during the install process, so I always end up with 70 again. As I type this, I wonder if the "trick" is to kill my Internet connection before installing 68 again. If that works, I'll post a folllow-up shortly.

History panel shows removed history entriesOpera for Windows
When I click the taskbar icon to launch the History page, it displays links that I already deleted from the history. When I click to go to Full History View, those links no longer display. Personally, I think it would be a little embarrassing if I watched a few minutes of a baseball game on my office computer, deleted the link from my history page, and then had it show up again when my boss asked to see my browser history

Opera constantly freezes on Windows 10Opera for Windows
The worst problem is that Opera 69 freezes once or twice a day. During a freeze, which can last for a minute or more, I'm usually unable to access any other open application that would normally be accessible by pressing Alt-Tab. All of the keys or mouse clicks I pressed during that freeze all start firing in rapid succession once the freeze ends. I had Task Manager open during one freeze, and I can see Opera is using a ton of memory.
