Latest Opera updates seem to be going backwards instead of forward. As mentioned before:

Now there is this odd bug, that happens with variety of sizes large files.

Mind you that the ZIP isn't a On-The-Fly ZIP Archive, it's a pre-Zipped Archive stored on a server (AWS S3) and it returns such oddity with the progress bar.

OS: macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 - 64 bit
Ver: Opera 62.0.3331.66 - Stable

As of late Opera crashes rather frequent when

• Opening a New Tab with around 5-6 other Tabs open, or;
• Saving an Image file > 1 MB, < 5 MBs, or;
• Downloading a File 100+ MBs

Honestly with each update to Opera things get cut out, other features get downsized and cut and things generally seem to break more and more. Opera today is what Chrome used to be, a mess. I really don't understand why with every rolling Stable update things are worse and worse, features get cut and downsized and everything is a buggy mess.

At this point as much as I loved opera and been using it since the day's Opera had Ads (yes that's how old I am), but I'm going to say good buy an shift over to Firefox, at least it dose not crash when trying to save images.

With all do respect @leocg in this particular case the item in question is redundant. I have attached a screenshot. If you notice there is a Green arrow which indicates a "File Open" function, which in my case would trigger the "Image" to be loaded into "Preview" on OSX. However, you also have untitled folder which is Open File location without the idiotic need for a dropdown, as such your argument is rather vague.

As it stands I don't appreciate

Open the file location and Open (the file) aren't the same thing.

Since I belive you seem to have missed the rather obvious relating to Open File Location, which is there. Again, without idiotic and redundant dropdown.

As you can also see, there is a huge amount of wasted space which can be populated and allow for more data like Filesize, Firefox has this functions and has had them for very long time.

It seems with all of the version's of Opera the default Download Manager has became pretty sloppy. I don't understand why in previous versions the Downloaded files information would span the whole screen, in the new one it seem's to be limited to a prettified width.

The second issue I see missing is the Filesize of a downloaded item. If my memory does not do me wrong, this both has been present in the previous Opera versions.

The other suggestion would be to make some actions much more quicker to access, for example there's no need for a Dropdown with opening the file location, when you already have the Open button.

@mgeffro That may be the case. With all honesty there was one moment where Opera kept asking me to re-start it good 10 times, as it kept downloading new update and restarting and just keep going. But again keep in mind that this is relating to Opera for Mac at the time of this oddity I was running High Sierra (Mojave was out but was causing power issues on my iMac), I seen similar pop up 1's in Mojave but it was more isolated too 2 updates.

@burnout426 Unfortunately it dose not work the same way on Mac. Granted on Mac most application will update to the Latest build that includes application with Build in Updater, and so will applications that were compiled from Source in Terminal or via Brew. For example I can have 2-3 version dated VSCodium (a fork of MS Visual Code, without much of MS telemetric parameters) and it will update to the Latest version when I update it via Brew.

I still don't exactly feel comfortable using Chrome or Firefox as I have been using Opera since it's very early days when Opera had build-in Ads.

Hello, I have a rather simple suggestion. It would be amazing and beyond great if Opera could update to the latest version without the whole fiasco of having to go truth every possible past update. At one point of time my Opera kept restarting 10+ times before it was happy with the "Latest Version".

I personally find this to be rather poor practise, unless there is some technical side that I'm not understanding but what is so hard to go from let's say Version 1 to Version 5 without having to go truth 2, 3 and 4. I mean in reality with each Update the Application code is updated, downloading 2, 3 and 4 in my view are waste of "time" and "resources" instead of just going for the latest and up-date version of Opera.

Anyone care to expand on this strange Update mechanic?

@operaoperandi funny enough this does not effect the Windows builds.

Re-start or Re-installing does not resolve this issue. The program is usable but it's rather annoying to have to Quit just to get it to run again.

My advice is to file a Bug report and hopefully more people who file this, will result in quicker fix up.
