How to disable right click context menu option: close other tabs, close right tabs ?Opera for computers
How to disable right click context menu option: close other tabs, close right tabs ?
When i only wanted to close one tab i closed too often too many tabs by mistake.
The mouse pointer can easily be misplaced in the opera context menu because all close options are too near together.
Either way i do not use the options of closing many tabs by mouse, so why not disable these dangerouse options in the context menu?

The Service Worker, Webworker-Case : Where too much RAM+CPU+HD+Internet-Traffic usage could be caused by.Opera for Windows
The Service Worker, Webworker-Case : Where too much RAM+CPU+HD+Internet-Traffic usage could be caused by.
I wanted to make a backup of my Opera Browser profile folder, but it seemed to be too big with over 1 GB. So i searched for reasons. The Cache etc. are normal space consumptioners.
Look for yourself how big them Service Worker folders could explode!
C:\Users\Your Profilename\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Service Worker
Mine were over 400MB!
For an Opera Browser profile backup much too big.
After DIY cleansing they got 60% off size AND Opera Browser also got 40% smaller in RAM and faster in reaction and data transfer over Internet, subjectivelyIt could be that many users with problems with RAM, CPU usage, Browser speed or hanging Internet should look at this case to solve them.
In my view the security vulnerability of all browsers worldwide is affected by this underestimated browser feature too. I found one case of misusing the service worker a year ago, see below. Here is my workaround against the Service Worker "Overload".
Please amplify and correct- Possibility:
File Explorer:
C:\Users\Your Profilename\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Service Worker
There folders:
CacheStorage (biggest?)
ScriptCache
Database
To sort files and folders by size i use the XYplorer.
In this folders you could always read the
index.txt
to see which site (mis)uses your HD space.
So i discovered plus 100MB eg from nytimes.com, where i didn't look for years.
I deleted all at once. But this is too time-consuming for evey folder.-
Poss.:
Simplier with the address bar:
opera:serviceworker-internals
Here you can manualy click unregister per Domain.
I cleaned all up but supposed important folders like Googlemail, Opera, etc.
Success: More than 200 MB and 60% shrunked my Service Worker folder!
But this won't be permanent i'm afraid. -
Poss:
Opera developer tools :
CTRL+Shift+I, Application, Service Worker, Service workers from other origins.
I did not use this. -
Poss.:
Deactivation of Service Worker in the Opera Browser per Addon uMatrix:
Click on the 3 points points on top of each other to the right of On/Off: Forbid Web Workers.
This is a stable adjustment i think. -
Poss.:
opera://flags
Search for "service worker".
Enable/Disable:
- Service worker on UI thread
- Prefetch request properties are updated to be privacy-preserving
Could be permanent, but this seams to be too unspecific und risky for many sites who do profit from that.
Conclusion:
Options 2 an 4:
opera:serviceworker-internals
Addon uMatrix
They seem to be a good team: First delete non important and then block this permantly by an addon.
But you got to look regularly in your Opera Profile folder "service Worker", otherwise it would blow up too much. And the problem stays that you can not simply get rid off this data waste.
Not to talk of probably important security risks.Warning: Playing with web workers an service workers could break some pages!
Yes, for website performance or while staying offline the Service Worker might be useful and necessary, but i never read something positive about it.
Who has got sources? What do you mean?
thxps: Misuse, abuse of Service Worker, Webworker!

Opera Browser : Search for specific Text on complete pages in HistorySuggestions and feature requests
Hi.
I can't find a page because there are only page titles to search in the Opera history
Would'nt it be fine to search also in the running text of pages in history?A second search field on the Opera history page would do it, or a checkmark.
Opera could search existent cache content of pages and live, not to archive the whole stuffthx
ps: Yes, i can remember some social browser over 10 years ago with this feature

Operta Browser : Nur deaktivierte Addons zeigen.Deutsch
hi.
Funktionsvorschlag:
Opera sollte bei Addons
opera://extensions/
neben Alle, Updates, aktiviert, deaktiviert
RE: Opera Browser: Addon deactivated - which one?Opera for Windows
@burnout426 i also ask in the German forum
https://forums.opera.com/post/190576
But there is not so much response.Yes, Opera showed a message that it disabled an unnamed addon causing problems.
So I have no link to it.
And i do not remember the reason why Opera did so.
I missed to take a screenshot. Next time.thx
ps: it seems i "lost" today another addon.
But silently... o_O
I found its icon on an older screenshot.
It is not listed in my addons anymore, even not in deactivated, so it got unasked deleted by Opera.
And i cant find it in addons.opera or chrome.
Who recognizes it by this screenshot?

Opera Browser: Copy Bookmark URL easily?Suggestions and feature requests

I often copy URLs out of my bookmarks.
But you can not copy the URL adress easily.
It is annoying to always edit a bookmark bevore you can copy its URL adress...
This would be fine to have in Opera -
Opera Browser : Backup FunktionDeutsch
Hi.
Man findet keine Backup-Funktion in Opera:
opera://settings/?search=backupDabei sollten doch alle Einstellungen wie Suchmaschinen, Passworte uvm. einfach zu sichern sein.
Ist es manuell zu schwierig?
Muss man externe Programme benutzen? Fände ich unsicher.Deshalb Vorschlag, dass dies rein müsste in Opera
Wo kann ich Vorschläge machen? -

Search in page does not shift down pageSuggestions and feature requests
Hi.
By pressing STRG+F or F3 the search field/bar in Opera Browser is flapping down from above.
But as effect the Whole page gets shift down.
This is really annoying!By this sliding of everything visible all text is not readable and you get easily lost your reading position in the text.
This moving all pages down has no positive use.On some pages this sliding down of the search field changes the whole layout.
Could the Opera search function please be changed with no effects on pages?
Perhaps with an overlaying search field which only covers a small region instead of shifting all.
This would be more professional.

Upgrade Opera 32 bit to 64 bitOpera for Windows
Hi.
I want to move to 64bit.
Will Opera upgrade my 32bit installation automatically or install separately?
Will all my Browser Data be safe and transferred? Also to a possible 2nd installation? It would be fine if one could choose this upgrade automatically from inside the Opera Browser and not manually.

Opera Browser: Backup feature we need!Suggestions and feature requests
Hi.
It is time for a backup feature in Opera!
Nope: opera://settings/?search=backupI did not find a topic for an Opera Browser backup here:
https://forums.opera.com/tags/backup
Anybody has a solution for a local Opera Backup, but not Opera Sync? Here it starts imediately: https://www.sync.opera.com/Wishes:
All settings have to be optionally backuped to separate files:
Settings, tabs, passwords, addons and their settings, cookies, active sessions and windows, history, cache, certificates, etc.A built in backup with these options would be very fine for all
ps:
Copying the entire profile folder is not always OK.
Mostly this too simple method copies also too much mess with it in hidden folders.
One problem could be this:
Service Worker, Webworker: Tracking, Targeting, Ads:

Opera Browser: GPU process consuming lot of CPUOpera for Windows
My Opera Browser runs high on CPU usage after a while since a week. All restarting useless.
The GPU-Process as to see in the task manager per Shift+ESC is the second most eater after Opera itself. My suspicion: Facebook eats all CPU power.
I open mostly FB pages and after 20 minutes with opening and closing and reopening serveral FB pages Opera behaves strange and does not load all FB pages but stucks in trying to... -
RE: Opera Browser: GPU process consuming lot of CPUOpera for Windows
@cratte
Also the process "Renderer" now uses too much CPU%
I have to kill it too to get some stressless time

RE: Opera Browser: GPU process consuming lot of CPUOpera for Windows
@DearMadelene use the Opera built in task manager as described and kill the CPU burner - BUT be careful: them are GPU process and sometimes "Renderer".
Try it. -
RE: White screen 'flashbang' when opening pagesOpera for Windows
hi.
Perhaps a solution here, because Opera is using the Blink engine from Google's Chrome browser.Chrome Browser: Turn hardware acceleration OFF?
"Chrome launches with the white screen?"
https://windowsreport.com/chrome-white-screen/#:~:text=Some users have confirmed that,in the snapshot directly below.go to:

Opera Browser with no Internet after restart from hibernationOpera for Windows
Hi.
My Opera Browser often gets no Internet connection with no reason after starting Laptop from hibernation sleep.
The Windows 10 Task Manager shows Evey time following processes with a very high Harddisk usage:
System
Avast Antivirus
Opera Browser
Here in screenshot Avast is on top, but mostly it is System.
After ca.10 minutes waiting its all OK mostly. But i found perhaps the guilty process and "workaround" by killing a process in the Opera Task Manager (Shift+ESC).
It is the "Help process network service" which causes too high CPU usage with around 20%.
Here a screenshot after its restart with no high CPU:
After ending this process all Opera Internet connections are OK.
This does not concern other browsers, only Opera. My Opera has open 1000 mostly suspended tabs and 1.6 GB RAM usage as to see in the screenshot.
