Google is by far the most complete search engine available. Your "needs" surely are not greater than what Google can provide. Furthermore, you have Bing, DuckDuckGo, Amazon, Wikipedia and Yahoo. So ... what search engine is it that Opera lacks that is so essential for your "needs"???

Seems like you're filling up several threads with your whining. No doubt some of this must be frustrating but here's something to keep in mind. "I" had no trouble migrating my bookmarks so you obviously did something wrong NOT Opera. Furthermore, you paid NOTHING for Opera but freely used its software so Opera is not obliged to returning ANYTHING to you... period. Mozilla would respond with the same words "if" you went onto their forums and ranted about your displeasure over several threads.

joshl makes a good point. We are users but not customers. Opera has provided software that we are free to use (although it is not ours nor will it ever be ours) or to find other software that meets our needs. Had we actually paid for the browser, it might make a difference but that is not the case. I find it a bit disingenuous when we "tell" Opera how to make their browser and some go as far as to threaten to leave it for another browser. The bottom line is this: Opera will do whatever is in their best interests in terms of growing the business. And the business "is" growing well so if a few "old" or "former" disgruntled users are upset with the direction Opera has chosen to take, that is their prerogative and that is life. We need to deal with it and move on.

Click on the Opera logo and go down to settings and preferences. What is so difficult about that?

Rafael, you're right on the money as usual. I wouldn't let the down vote concern you. There is still a remnant of negative members here on this forum for whom nothing (absolutely nothing) Opera does or could do would make them happy short of returning to Presto. In time they will be gone but until then we just exercise patience.

Discover presents disgusting images? :whistle: Are you serious? Then set Netnanny to block questionable images for your children OR keep them off the internet altogether. I have yet to see anything "disgusting" presented via Discover but I guess it all depends on what one deems disgusting. At this time there is no way to remove the Discover option.

The good thing is opera makes it easy for us to open the same page in another browser. And I use lastpass so all my logins still work whenever I switch to another browser temporarily.

It's really a matter of numbers and business sense. The fact is, MOST people want new and cool rather than old and proven. And numbers drive business decisions. Vivaldi will undoubtedly fail due to the simple fact that it only appeals to a very, very small group of geeks longing for a return to the 90's-style suite. It didn't really set the world on fire then and it won't now by an even wider margin. The world of technology has moved on past the suite, dong. It is what it is. Most computing today is done on mobile devices believe it or not. I dumped my tower a few years back since I found it too confining and bought one of the first ultra-books. And even now, I find that at least half of what I do online is done on my smart phone and a tablet. Most users today do not want email clients, instead opting for web mail and social media communication. Of course there will always be room for email clients BUT they really only appeal to businesses and a very small group of consumers who are still stuck on that mode of communication. Opera is not going to develop the older mail client so don't waste your time hoping for the impossible. Mozilla cut loose Thunderbird a few years back and it's now being maintained by the public. There's no money in it. It's a losing proposition and not worth a company applying resources to its development. I'm surprised that Von Tetzchner actually believes he can be successful with this old-style suite. Perhaps that inability to looked forward to the future is why he was ultimately pushed out of Opera altogether.

Vivaldi is clunky and already dated. Why turn your clocks back to a 1995 browser/suite. This is 20 years later. Von Tetzchner is providing something that next to no one really wants. My prediction is that it will fall flat on its face and he'll throw in the towel after losing his shirt.

Raises issues I'm not qualified to lend a hand in. I don't have these issues in Opera (currently using Opera 30) so if the issue is the browser, why am I not experiencing these things. I have a feeling it has to do with your computer OR with the version you installed. Maybe the download was corrupt? Why not save your profile, uninstall Opera and download it again?

The browser is not the problem; it's malware that is still residing on your computer. The only way to fix this is to identify and remove it. Try Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.

We should be able to adjust the time according to our own particular time zones to make the forum more meaningful to us. I'm surprised this has not been made available. I don't know of any other forum where this feature is not easily adjusted to the individual member.

Try Vivaldi if Opera no longer floats your boat. As for me, I'll stick with Opera. In a worst case scenario, I use Firefox.

Steve, your post above is showing up on my browser as 1:11 AM. It would appear that something is wrong either with the way in which the forum is time stamping posts or something else. BTW... my browser's clock is correct.

Going back to Netscape is foolish and also indicative of someone who is incapable of adapting. Like lando said, "get over it." Learn to deal with reality. Opera is a company, a business. It has made a business decision whether you like it or not so if you don't like it find another browser. Venting here will do you (and us) any good. If you want help, we're willing to help if you behave yourself and act in a civil fashion.

So, Raphael, the two links you provided both date back to 2014 and it appears that no adequate solution has been forthcoming. When you say that "no solution was implemented UNTIL NOW" are you suggesting that they now have a solution and if so what is it? Or are you saying that no solution exists even now?
