I installed opera-stable which runs just fine

opera-stable_41.0.2353.56_amd64.deb

I also totally removed opera-developer and reinstalled then when I launched it
confirmed the Ad Block preference is OFF ... still crashes

Also I just installed opera-beta which also crashes same as opera-developer crashes

Looks like I will just lay low and stay away from beta and developer releases for now

on ubuntu in an attempt to start clean I renamed dir

mv ~/.config ~/.config~priorart

yet this was no help - opera-developer --version 41.0.2349.0
continues to crash without doing anything very 20 seconds or so

Have you Turbo on?

Newest Opera for Linux is due a stable release.

Try the 25 beta or 26 "developer".
