@alexmercer97 No it does not only search apps and files. You can set a web search too (or in fact many other searches, any you want: imdb, youtube, wiki etc).
I use it for websearch all the time, it is so so convenient.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@alexmercer97 i resorted to use ueli app and brave browser.
And i am very pleased with both. Ueli is truly great, have grown highly fond of it.
Can only recommend. -
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
Still no chance to bring back instant search or at least let us have it in flags so it's up to us wether we enable it or not? I assume not as it seems.
In August i decided to not use Opera anymore due to not providing the excellent instant search anymore.
I resorted to use the ueli app, a neat and terrific keystroke launcher, and settled for brave browser as my main browser.
I wish Opera would bring instant search back. It made Opera truly superiour to other browsers.

RE: Suche add on das Bilder in FB anderen Seiten bei Berührung vergrößertDeutsch
@KarlM versuch das hier mal.
Das ist ein Chrome add-on, kannst Du ohne Probleme installieren, benötigst lediglich dieses Opera add-on, welches das installieren von Chrome add-ons erlaubt . -
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@rafaelluik Not really. It's similar but opens all search results in a new tab. That's not what i want.
I've been using Vivaldi for years and i certainly do Love several of its features, but if you have ever used instant search then you know how convenient it is that it stays in the same window, shows you search results within the same window. That's the whole selling point for me personally. - Opera for computers

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@tonys2002 don't think instagram was integrated in sidebar then, but you can use Web Panel addon, idk if there's a specific sidebar for instagram add-on for Opera, just check the Opera add-ons for that.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@asDGreat can certainly use apps like ueli for systemwide keystroke launcher like vivaldi offers with quick command search.
Nonetheless, Operas instant search is the superior one because it stays within the same window when accessing websearch. That's the key element that makes it superior.
Don't get me wrong, Vivaldi is a terrific browser with a lot of customization and that's truly great. But its missing this exact feature what Opera has/had and no other: instant search.
I am staying inifinitely on v67 and blocking auto-updates so i can continue using this feature.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@leocg true. But that's at my own risk. Plus, the version i am on is stable and had no issues whatsoever. So'll be staying on this infinitely to be able to continue using instant search.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@ab-garcez why too risky? Care to elaborate?
i'm on v67 and blocked auto updates, having no issues at all.
I'm using Vivaldi for years as back-up, and as much as i like how customizable it is, instant search is the one feature missing. Same for Brave. I tried using ueli app, but it's not the same like instant search. Initially Very great to use, but it opens new tab instead of staying in pop-up omnibox.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@ab-garcez to be able to use instant search again, you can just roll back to v67 and block auto updates. That's what me and a lot of other users are doing.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@barcode i have rolled back to v67 of Opera and have blocked auto-updates.
Will stay on this now infinitely.
Instant search is the superior feature that Opera has and no other browser offers.
@treego i have been using Vivaldi on/off for since the beginning. I like that it is highly customizable and has tab stacking and such, but Opera's instant search is elementary for me.
@avl please consider bringing instant search feature back. Clearly, the number of users actually using Instant Search was not negligible.Without instant search, there is nothing, that makes Opera different, better, superior compared to other browsers. Without it, Opera is just a browser like any other.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@sagardakua007 that was instant search and used keys for alt+space.
roll back to v67, when you read a bit more up in this thread, it says it has been removed due to not enough people using it. -
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@winecurmudgeon said in Instant search box gone?:
Trufflepiggy
Thank you for mentioning this, will try it out. For now i will be staying on v67 though, so i can continue using instant search.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@diegosdf i'm staying on v67 and won't be updating anymore.
Instant search is THE feature that makes Opera superior to all other browsers. It's convenient and outstanding in so many ways. -
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@avl could it be still enabled in flags? I would so love to continue using instant search!
That's my main feature that makes Opera superior to all other browsers.Having to open a new tab/sidepanel/window to search something is such a downgrade.
Exactly for that: NOT having to click more and switch between tabs and such made the instant search so excellent and a must have feature imho.
Now i have to resort to open a new tab every time i want to look something up. That's so backwards. It was great when i could do that without leaving my active tab.I'm not gonna update anymore so i can continue using instant search.
EDIT: if anybody should make a floating search bar extension, or knows about one: please tag me. I'd love to have that.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@burnout426 what a shame, honestly. I thought that feature to be one of the best.
I used it only to bring up the instant search, never used it for the "search the tabs" part of it.The convenience of having instant search in a floating omnibox in the same tab was tremendous. Less clicking / less movement, not having to open another tab/window/side panel, that was the whole genius point of it. It was perfect.
I guess i won't update opera anymore in order to be able to continue using the instant Search feature.

RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@donq it looked like this and allowed you to search (use search engine) while being in the same tab
-
RE: Instant search box gone?Opera for computers
@burnout426 do you know why the removed it? I thought that was a stand-out feature! Nother browser had that. I loved it, it was so convenient. Bring up search in the same tab/window without having to open anything else.
