RE: Mouse GesturesOpera add-ons
Really handy extension — makes browsing a lot faster once you get used to the gestures. Took a bit to customize it to my liking, but now I can’t browse without it. Great work!

RE: Wallpaper Transparency OptionsRequests
Hey Gfacekilla,
The wallpaper transparency option in Opera depends on the version of Opera you're using and whether your system supports transparency effects. On some devices (especially lower-spec or older systems), this feature may not appear.
To check, go to Easy Setup (top-right corner of Opera) → scroll down to Wallpaper → see if the “Use transparent wallpaper” toggle is available. If it’s missing, make sure you’re on the latest version of Opera, and try enabling transparency effects in your Windows display settings too (especially if you’re on Windows 10 or 11). Let us know your OS and Opera version if it’s still not showing.

RE: Opera saved files will not open when the Opera logo appears on my desktop says JavaScript?Opera for Windows
Hey John, it sounds like the files you're trying to open were saved in a format that isn’t directly viewable — likely HTML or JavaScript-based files. When you see the Opera logo on them and get a message about needing a JavaScript program, it usually means the file is trying to run a script but isn’t meant to be opened directly like a normal document.
Instead of double-clicking those files, try right-clicking and opening them in Opera or another browser like Chrome. If the files still don’t display properly, it’s possible they’re not complete webpages but rather partial data or links that don’t work offline. Let me know how you saved them originally — that can help figure out what’s going wrong.

RE: I can't Confirm my identityOpera GX
Hi yahowa,
That’s definitely annoying — if Opera keeps saying “can’t confirm your identity” even after solving the CAPTCHA correctly, it’s often due to browser privacy settings blocking necessary scripts or cookies. Try turning off Opera’s built-in VPN, ad blocker, or privacy shield temporarily, and make sure JavaScript and cookies are enabled. You can also try the same process in a private window or switch to another browser to see if the issue is Opera-specific.

RE: Spotify not showing upGeneral
Hey lofiTemi, good question — the Spotify Web Player doesn’t show up in your device’s music player controls because it runs in the browser and doesn’t integrate with system-level media controls the way native apps do. That means things like lock screen controls or external playback devices often won’t detect it the same way they would the desktop or mobile app.
If you’re using the Web Player and want to give it a try, here’s the full link: https://open.spotify.com/. For deeper integration, like media keys or system audio controls, you’d need the Spotify desktop app, which supports those features natively.

RE: Spotify playback errorOpera for Android
Hey Prof-MANGO, that “Playback disabled” error usually points to an issue with protected content settings in your browser. Since you’ve already cleared cache, turned off your VPN, and disabled ad blockers, the next thing to check is whether protected content (DRM) is enabled. In Chrome, go to chrome://settings/content/protectedContent and make sure both toggles are turned on — Spotify needs this to stream music.
If that doesn't solve it, try opening Spotify in an Incognito window to rule out any interfering extensions. Also, ensure your browser is up to date, and check if Widevine is installed by visiting chrome://components and updating Widevine Content Decryption Module. If all else fails, give it a quick test in Firefox or Edge to see if it’s a browser-specific issue.

RE: Opera not rendering job site layout properlyOpera for Windows
Hi sultanhassan,
Yeah, you're not alone — Opera can sometimes render things a bit differently, especially with flexbox layouts. Even though it’s Chromium-based like Chrome, there are subtle differences in how it handles certain CSS properties, especially around flex alignment or min-height issues. If your job cards rely heavily on flexbox for layout, it might be worth double-checking that all containers have defined widths and that there’s no unexpected overflow or missing flex-wrap.
It’s also a good idea to inspect the layout in Opera’s DevTools — look for warnings or computed styles that differ from Chrome. Sometimes, small things like auto margins, percentage heights, or even missing vendor prefixes (though rare now) can throw things off. A quick test is to simplify the CSS for one card and see if it behaves — then work your way up.
