      Hi,
I am going to leave all the rage aside and just gonna ask for a quick help as I need my system back and running this afternoon.

So I was using an old version 25.0.1614.50 all is good all is fine. While watching a YT video the flash plugin hung up and Opera crashed hard - way harder than before.
After killing all the left processes in the task manager I started Opera again, and was getting the Opera updated screen.
So I am running Version 29 all of sudden, although I have the automatic update disabled.

So I need a revert back to the 25 Version asap.
Thought it would be easy to just delete the 29.. folder in my Opera directory and the launcher would use the 25 version (which is still there). But nope, getting a windows error message that the launcher / opera.exe is crashing.

      Problemsignatur:
      Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
      Anwendungsname: launcher.exe_Opera Internet Browser
      Anwendungsversion: 29.0.1795.60
      Anwendungszeitstempel: 55567ee9
      Fehlermodulname: launcher.exe
      Fehlermodulversion: 29.0.1795.60
      Fehlermodulzeitstempel: 55567ee9
      Ausnahmecode: 80000003
      Ausnahmeoffset: 00018b29
      Betriebsystemversion: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.49
      Gebietsschema-ID: 1031
      Zusatzinformation 1: 0a9e
      Zusatzinformation 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
      Zusatzinformation 3: 0a9e
      Zusatzinformation 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

And yes, pesky German, and I have friggin clue what it should mean.
FYI, I was running a windows update just before I watched that YT video.

Alright, so how can I tell the launcher to use my 25 version again, so I can life a happy live again.

There's a xml file that you need to edit to point the launcher to the correct folder.

          You mean this one?

          http://photos.clans-cdn.de/uphotos/photo_3453901_4024324234_o.jpg

And the only other entry I can find is at the very bottom about "uninstall"
changed it, and I get a version error with a 'search online for help' windows button.
Maybe cause the launcher file itself has the 29something version number?

btw thanks again leo for your fast reply. ❤

          Kind regards
          julian

Afaik the launcher just "launches" Opera from the folder set up in that file.

If you don't remove auto-update completely this will happen again. If you let 2 updates happen the antepenult version's folder will be deleted.

its rather interesting, that it worked for the longest time (hence running 25) with just the few 'deactivate update' options I choose a while ago.
Till the crash came, and a lot of people here complaint about the auto-update to V 29

But I have to admit, a few new options in this 29 version look promising, have to try 'em out on my stand-alone version first, though.

What 'remove auto-update' proceedings would you suggest. IIRC I renamed the file, done some command line edit, and a registry thingy in windows. But well, its been quite some time since, though my memory might be shoddy.
A reminder would be nice 🙂

I don't get it, why do you want to force yourself into 25 then?

Well there's a entry in the task scheduler that you'll have to disable, and you also need to set OPERA_AUTOUPDATE_DISABLED as an environment variable.

yeah, didn't activate the autoupdate again, as it was kinda more important to get my work done, and I found a makeshift to get the things done in 29 I did in 25 easily.

Well now, again my PC crashed all of sudden, I have a new Opera Version 30 this time, and well, as a lot of other people it just won't work or load anything at all.

I have no clue what you guys at Opera Software do, or think you do, all I can say is that I hope that these Problems are not intended.
