How does one decouple Google from Opera? I miss Presto

I want to use Opera, but I can't remove any of the Google invasive artifacts/defects. Like the search box on the tabs page. Is there something I am not seeing? Or is time to ditch Opera, throw it on the ground and cry?

Settings > Start page > check "Hide the search box in Speed Dial"

You will need to enable power user settings to see that option.
