Without the ability to use web page thumbnails, speed dial has become an absolute NIGHTMARE. The colors are ANNOYING and CONFUSING! I thought the idea was to make your browser more user friendly over time. This change makes NO sense in that light. It seems to be done for developer convenience rather than for the user! Speed Dial was always one of my favorite features about Opera, now it makes my want to find a new browser. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give us this feature back. I love Opera, or at least I USED TO.

You can use page thumbnails, just click on the heart button and your favorite image.

Apologies. I was not clear. I want Opera to restore the ability to refresh Speed Dial buttons with the current image from the websites they represent. As I was previously able to do.

This current splatter of colors induces NAUSEA! Beyond that it makes Speed Dial far less easy to use. When Opera previewed this hideous thing several months ago I looked at it for all of 5 seconds and turned it OFF! Had I any idea you were going to make it a permanent, UNCHANGEABLE feature of Opera I would have started SCREAMING back then.

          1. What benefit does this offer the user?
          2. How in any way was Opera improved by this decrease in functionality?
          3. Who exactly does benefit from this change?
          4. Why can't the Ubergeeks, engineers that is, figure this out?

          Most sincerely

That was last possible with Opera 12. Opera 12 and Opera 29 share no code. I'm not going to go into the whole spiel as why the change was made but just trust me when I say it was necessary. Anyway, as time has gone on they have continued to add features to the speed dial and hints in the Developer release show that it will be possible again in the future. Give it time.

As leocg said you can add the thumbnail you want from the heart shaped icon and then selecting the thumbnail you want which is a great thing to add actually. If you want to constantly update the thumbnail of a selected page then I guess this is beyond aid AFAIK.
