In both Firefox and Chrome I can drag a file from my file manager and drop it into Gmail as either inline or attachment depending on what file it is and where I drop it.

This does not seem to work with Opera. Do I need to enable it somewhere or perhaps install a plugin?

You mean while composing a message? It seems to be working here.

Which version of Opera are you using?

Yes while composing a message. When I drag over the Gmail message window in Firefox and Chrome it changes look and writes Drop files here.

That does not happen with Opera and when I drop the file it just opens it (in this case a png file)

I've tried here with a png file and it worked fine.

I'm on Windows 10, maybe it's an issue with Windows 7?

Or maybe because I am running 64-bit?

                I'm on Win10 x64 so i don't think it's a problem.

"Drop Files Here" appears in my gmail compose window, and dropped files are attached.

What can we do?! Uninstall and install Opera again could solve? Is there a registry voice to check or something else?

I have 2 different notebooks. (one old and one new)
Both of them runs Windows 8.1 x64, and with the same version of opera.
On the new one, when using gmail in opera, drag'n'drop and copy-paste does not work.
                        Gmail with other browsers work.
Drag and drop on other websites work in opera.
Only gmail and opera causes problems.

                                Hello everyone,

same (new) problem here : Opera 34.0.2036.47 and Windows 10 64 bits.

Drag and drop is not an option for me. I'll have to install back thunderbird.

I've checked on stable 35 and developer 36 and it seems to be working here. You need to click on the "attach photos" button and then on upload.

Leocg, if you "need to" to click the button, then your drag-and-drop isn't working either.

The whole point of the drag-and-drop feature in Gmail is that you don't have to click that paperclip icon. You just drag the file from your desktop directly into the Compose window, wait one second for Gmail to realise that you're going to upload something, and then let go of the mouse button.

It works fine in Firefox. The same applies to images.google.com -- previously, I could drag an image to the search box, but now I have to use the paperclip icon and navigate to the image on my hard drive. If I drag-and-drop to images.google.com, then Opera opens the image itself. If I drag-and-drop a file to Gmail's Compose window, then Opera offers to "save" the file.

I've had the problem in Windows 8.1 for the past 2-3 weeks, and this week I'm back on Windows 7, and the functionality is still missing (using the latest Opera).

[A slight workaround for images.google.com is that you must click the camera icon, then click the "Upload an image" tab, and then drag-and-drop the image onto the "Browse" button. This saves you from having to navigate to the image on your hard drive. But this is really just a workaround, since in Firefox you don't even need to click the camera icon before dropping the image into the search field.] I know of no workaround that works with Gmail.
