I wanted to upgrade my Opera 12.16 to Opera 28, but I had to return to the old version (fortunately, I create a restore point before upgrading). First, Opera 28 is much slower than 12.16 and doesn't block pop-ups (even if the box is checked in preferences and with Turbo mode enabled). Next, Some bookmarks disappeared, I don't know why. Finally, I feel unpractical to open a page just to see the bookmarks.

Turbo mode is not a pop-up blocker. It is a compression feature for people on metered or extremely slow connections, like dial up. Do not enable it as it will make your browsing seem slower. To fully block pop-ups I recommended you install an extension like Adblock Plus. They fully featured pop-up blockers and are much better than even the blocker built into Opera 12.

As for bookmarks, either enable the bookmarks bar or access your bookmarks from the Opera menu. You don't need to open a page to see them. Also, a sidebar-like feature is currently in the testing release. SO that will be in future stable versions as well.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll try them, but I have another question. Is it possible to install the new version in another location in order to keep the older one enabled, just in case or this can cause some interference?

Yes, just change the installation folder during the installation.

In fact they are both there as 12.17 doesn't really upgrade to 28.

Google Chrome just added a built-in pop-up blocker into the browser, so I guess Opera developers may consider the same.
It feels a bit slowing things down for now, though the execution seems quite o'k.

I don't have problems with the popup blocker here, it works fine.
