Password not working for confirming my identity.

I just got a new PC and I'm busy installing all of my software. I’ve installed Opera GX (the default version, I assume) and logged in. When I try to sync my data, the password section asks me to confirm my identity by re‑entering my password. However, each time I type it in, the system says it’s incorrect, which is confusing because I just used that exact password to log in.
Am I missing something? I’ve searched online but haven’t found a solution. I also tried creating a unique password specifically for Opera, but it still asks for a password and claims mine is incorrect.

@leocg I wish that was the case, but I've only been using Opera GX since 2025 and my original password before I changed it was one of those super long passwords I had saved on another password manager, and they never get used twice, so I'm 99% confident that was the original password before I changed it in hopes of fixing the problem.

@leocg it says password...
"Hello Collwyr!
Confirm your identityFor security reasons, to enable synchronization we need to confirm your identity. Please provide your Opera Account password below."
that's what it says. but obviously my Opera Account password is surely the password that I used to log into my Opera Account to even get to this stage?
