Why was 1Password support dropped?

I had Opera version 117.0.5408.53 and I was happy with it. I had the 1Password extension installed, which I use regularly.
Opera updated itself (without asking) and the 1Password extension is gone, along with other extensions. A search of available extensions does not show a 1Password extension.
How do I get the 1Password extension back? or do I just move to another browser?

@leisureguy Aha! Although I don't find 1Password in a search of Opera extensions, when I go to the 1Password site (using Opera) and sign in, 1Password can be insttalled in Opera. It's just not shown in Opera's own list of extensions.
Still, I would have preferred that the update not remove the extensions I had already installed.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. After Opera updates, some extensions may be removed or disabled. You can reinstall the 1Password extension from the Chrome Web Store — just make sure you have the "Install Chrome Extensions" add-on for Opera first.
Go to: https://chrome.google.com/webstore, search for "1Password," and install it again.
If issues persist, switching to a more extension-friendly browser like Chrome, Brave, or Firefox might be worth considering.

@tarzansdis This solution no longer works - installing 1Password chrome extension to opera GX does install the extension, however it then cannot be interacted with.

I have encountered the same issue; have just submitted the following bug report to Opera so hopefully will get addressed in the next few days....
The 1Password Extension has been working normally until (probably) Friday 11th September. It appears that a recent Opera update has ‘broken’ the 1Password functionality so when you try opening it from the extensions top bar an empty frame opens but not the actual pop-up 1Password window (see 1st .png attachment below).
I have tried the usual steps to resolve without success:
- Followed the guidance on the 1Password support pages
- Tried various standard permutations of closing Opera and 1Password desktop individually and collectively; restarted the apps; rebooted the PC, etc.
- Uninstalled the 1Password extension
- Reinstalled (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/1password-–-password-mana/aeblfdkhhhdcdjpifhhbdiojplfjncoa )
- Edited the Registry to inset a new Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Opera and inserted a new DWORD: NativeHostsExecutablesLaunchDirectly set to 1. This has had no effect.
I note that there are other mentions of this issue on the Opera Forum
I have also tried installing the Google Chrome browser as a cross-check and the 1Password Extension works perfectly and as expected with that.
I’d greatly appreciate if you can check out what seems to have happened with the recent Opera update and resolve so I can get this very useful functionality back working again

- Have just spotted that this is under the 'Opera for Mac' Category - should have been under Opera for Windows but imaging is likely the same issue affecting both editions.
- Request the Forum Team move or duplicate to the correct Category.
