      Hello,
My opera mail has gone berserk.
will not download most emails, some are downloaded multiple times every time I open the email program, no matter how many times I delete them.

Checking for updates of the email program returns an error message ,as well as sending an email after a crash.

I have used Opera mail for many years without issue, nothing has changed that I am aware of to cause any problem. I am using to check 2 pop accounts which are operating normally, Win 10.

You can check the database to see if it fixes anything.

You can fix the mail folder manually.

You can enable logging and look at the logs to see what errors are showing the connections.

Keep in mind that the standalone Opera Mail client was never finished and was discontinued a long time ago. It doesn't support TLS 1.3, is missing a lot of modern certificates, doesn't support oAuth authentication and doesn't support modern cyphers and encryption. Something on the POP server could have changed that now requires something Opera Mail doesn't support.

You can download the installer, launch it, click "options", set the "install path" to a folder named "Opera Mail Test" on your desktop, set "install for" to "standalone installation" and install. Then, in that test Opera Mail, you can add in your POP accounts (just don't uncheck "leave messages on server in the accounts' settings) and test if things work fine there. If not, Opera Mail might not be compatible with your mail server anymore.
