Google as the only search engine?? +problems

I just made a factory reset in my android phone and I was very suprised after installing Opera, which I have been used to for years...
Why isn't there any option to select a different search engine, than Google anymore? Before the reinstal I could have chosen from many others.
AD block also doesn't work, it writes me something about unability to load the cfg from servers.
Sync also doesn't work, @ PC I get the ,,please wait" messange only. Resetting the passphrase also didn't help.
What happened to Opera? It was a great browser. Now it looks I will have to use a diffferent one.
